Spurs Library News March/April/May
Steubing Ranch Elementary
What happened these past months?
Second grade completed the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle research unit. For 3 weeks in February and March, we immersed ourselves in how to take care of our environment by using the 3 R's. Students used inquiry based research to get questions answered and used Educreations App to create a cool product on everything they learned.
The beginning of March was quite fun when we celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Students enjoyed many activities including fun dress up days, Dr. Seuss books, Read Around the School, and exploratory stations.
April started off with our "Happy Camper" Book Fair. Thank you parents and community for a very successful fair. Especially I would like to thank my Volunteers for making it all happen! Without them it would not be a success!
We are in the midst of Poetry Month where 1st to 5th grade students are becoming poets! We have lessons and Poetry Picnic in the library.
Kinder is on their way to completing their very first research project on the animal they choose. I see some great excitement on their faces because they get to choose their own animal book to use for their research!
What is coming next?
End of the Year is coming! Wow this year has flown by!
Kinder will be continue and finish their animal research.
The rest of the year will be Exploratory Learning Centers for the remainder of the year.
What you need to know for END of year Procedures?
All Books will be due MAY 19th.
At this time, books that are lost or damaged will also need to be paid for.
Turning in books or paying to replace books are always encouraged! End of the year the earlier you take care of your books the more chances you will have to win some prizes from the library. I have lots of incentive activities that your child will not want to miss. So please get those books in on time or pay for your lost or damaged books.
IMPORTANT: I will send out a Summer Reading Smore with lots of information on summer reading programs. Look out for it for the Email Blast at the end of the school year! You don't want to miss out on summer reading opportunities!
