Happy Holidays
Message From the Principal
We had a sad Thursday as we said goodbye to Mr. Sidener as he will be leaving us for retirement. Mr. Sidener came out of retirement and worked as a teacher aide for the past year and a half. He did a great job working one on one with students and helping them get caught up on their work as well as increase their strength in weights. He will be greatly missed and the shoes will be hard to fill. If you know anyone looking for a job and would like to work with a great group of middle schoolers please send them our way!

Connecting with the Counselor
This week, the students and I read a story together -- "Elliot Elf's Secret Mission: Stuffing Stockings with Coping Skills." This story followed an elf as he delivered coping skills to kids who might be struggling at Christmas due to various reasons...divorced parents, missing school, missing friends, boredom, etc.
Looking forward, we will begin our Career Exploration Unit when we get back from break! -- it's my favorite unit. ;)
6th, 7th, 8th Grade
I am so proud of the work that the students in grades 6th, 7th and 8th did focusing on Executive Functioning this Semester. This is a very hard skill to master as an adolescent as the pre-teen and teenage brain is not naturally wired to complete these kinds of tasks (organization, time management, grit, etc.).
Looking forward, we will begin our Career Exploration Unit when we come back from break. All students will be working in Xello, which is the Career Exploration platform we use district-wide. The 8th graders will also get to participate in the 8th Grade Career Shadowing Experience. This was VERY popular last year, and we are looking forward to providing students with this opportunity again.
I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season and thank you for sharing your kid with me.
