LMES PTO Family Brain Game Night Was A Hit!
This week, the LMES PTO hosted our first Family Brain Game Night, featuring select activities that sparked collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, innovation, and were a lot of fun! We all had a great time building a cardboard mech suit, stacking cups higher than the grown-ups, solving puzzles, and getting to know each other "off-line"! This was one of several "unplugged" events that the LMES PTO is hosting this year in an effort to encourage families to turn off their devices and have some good, clean fun! Special thanks to Mrs. Yorns, the PTO President, and our teacher volunteers, Mrs. Richardson, Mrs. Bielert, and Mrs. Jehning. Also, a HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs. O'Neill, who lent us all of the awesome activities and games!
Students Rallying Together for A Good Cause!
This is the second year that fifth-grade students participated in the Kid Governor program. Featured in this photo are many of the students who developed a platform. Just because they didn't get enough votes doesn't mean they are done fighting for a worthy cause! These students are continuing to develop ways to raise awareness and rally support for their causes by working with Mrs. O'Neill (not featured in the photo) and myself. Together, we will help them to develop ways to get the word out about people, places, and animals in need and design fund-raising events to help them.
Making Math Fun!
In fourth grade, students used math skills such as estimation and measurement to design and wrap their classmates in stylish attire! What a fantastic way to celebrate Halloween while applying learned skills!
Learning Through Doing!
At LMES, we encourage students to learn through doing, not just memorization! In the photos above, third-grade students were caught reading to preschool students. The older students modeled all the skills they had learned, such as decoding, reading with expression, paying attention to punctuation, and making predictions, to name a few!
