News From the Art Room
The Art Room is a happy place as we revisit and/or introduce new procedures and materials. Our school is participating in a fundraiser with Art to Remember that gives you the opportunity to purchase keepsake items customized with your child’s artwork. They make fabulous holiday gifts!
Your student(s) have just started their creations, so please stay tuned for their individual link to order personalized items in early November!
All proceeds help support our creative artists at the amazing Spencer Elementary!

Next week is Pink Week! As a district, we try to get everyone involved in something for this week. This year, Spencer will be participating in Coins for a Cure, benefitting Brighton Center for Cancer Research all week and Pink Out on Friday 9/30. Bring those coins all week! We will be counting daily and giving an update with the top three classes of the day. At the end of the week, the class who has brought in the most money will win a small prize from the PTO. We have also cut out pink bookmarks that we will be passing out to each teacher. The kids will decorate them with pictures or positive messages. We will collect those at the end of the week and deliver them to the cancer center for patients. In addition, the BHS Leadership Team has several things planned for the community throughout the week including a "Race for the Cure 5k or 1k" on 9/28, a Powderpuff Game on 9/29, and the Pink Out Football game on 9/30.
Dine Out Night
Our first dine out night is next Wednesday! Join us on 9/28 at McDonald's on Lee Road. No flyer necessary, just stop by between 4-8pm and a portion of your sales will come back to the PTO! (But mention that you are with Spencer for a sweet treat!)
Next week, you will receive packets with all the information for our upcoming Roadrunner Run, which will be held October 14 from 2:00-3:30. This is our first major fundraiser for the year and we will need lots of help! Be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities and all you ever needed to know about our fundraiser! We are working on a platform to help us take online donations as well as our normal cash/check options. Stay tuned!
We need you!!! The PTO hosts free family events nearly every month, but we need your help! If you are interested in helping to organize an event, please check out the signup genius here!
9/26-10/1 - Pink Week! Save that change and be prepared for COIN WARS!

Welcome back to another amazing year here at Spencer Elementary. I am so excited to begin working with students this year to help facilitate and promote social-emotional growth and learning! I will be providing classroom lessons, small group activities, and individual support this year.
As a reminder, your school counselor is here to support children with social-emotional concerns that are impacting their success in the classroom. We will begin working with individuals as needs arise within the months of September and October. I look forward to offering small peer groups in October. If your child is struggling at school, we will work together with the classroom teacher to determine whether or not school-based services would be beneficial. We may also be able to offer resources or contacts if your family believes that outside support is an option.
The Elementary Counselor Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have, and I will do my best to support your child.

Extra Change of Clothes
Parents - PLEASE pack a change of clothes in your child's backpack EVERY DAY. This is for ALL grades, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or loose a tooth, or spill food on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have an accident. We have already had to contact quite a few families to come up with a change of clothing. If your student keeps a change of clothes in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we will need you to bring up a change of clothing. Thank you for your cooperation.
