October 27, 2016
We are:

- Intentional lesson planners
- Consistent classroom managers
- Protectors of instructional time
- Called to be exceptional among other schools
- Meant to be at Cedar Grove teaching the exact students we have this year!
Mastering Multiplication Begins Monday
We included a segment on multiplication in morning announcements tomorrow. Remember that beginning Monday, we are going to come together as as school to help our students master their multiplication tables. This will not apply to K -2. They will work on addition and subtraction facts in the same way. For students in grades 3-5, whenever they enter a classroom, go through the lunch line. come to the office or health room, or any other place in the building, they will be asked a multiplication fact before they can enter or leave. We will begin with 1's next week. Please make sure you commit to doing this! If we all commit to making this a part of our day, our students will memorize their facts. We will move to 2's the following week and on through the tables in the week's to come. If a student does not know the answer, tell them the fact with the answer and have them repeat it to you. This should be done very quickly so that it does not take time away from your instruction. We know it takes a village, so our village is going to help with multiplication! :-)
Copies
I cannot thank you enough for only copying what is necessary and helping us lower our copier costs. I know many of you are getting really low with your amounts. I am going to talk with the gentleman who installed the program and get amounts reset. Please continue to only copy what you need to move your students forward. Have students write as much as possible rather than print a worksheet when applicable. While we are in no way a paperless school, we have to be thoughtful in what we do copy. Having said that, remember that I never, ever want you to sacrifice student achievement. If your students need a paper copy, make it! Again, thank you so very much for lowering our copy bills.
