JSD Year 1 Newsletter
Week Ending Friday 14th February 2014
What have we done this week?
It's been a busy last week and the children have worked very hard in all areas of the curriculum. They have written an adventure story about a butterfly, helped with various cooking activities, made some cookery videos, sequenced some stories and events, to name only a few.
In Numeracy the children have been learning vocabulary associated with position and direction such as: right, left, above, below, between and next to.
We have played lots of phonics word games inside and outside of the classroom. The children loved the water game when they used water sprays. It was greaty fun eliminating some tricky words that had been chalked onto the playground.
Our Afternoon Tea
We hope you enjoyed our Year 1 Afternoon Tea today. The children have worked really hard on preparing and getting ready for this event. They were very excited about sharing the food they had made with their families. We know that you will agree with us that the children did a fantastic job of serving today. The Year 1 teachers are very proud of all the children.

Extra Information
We have noticed the children are losing more items of clothing when changing on PE days. Over the holiday please can you check that your child's name is still visible on all items of school uniform and PE kit, as some may have washed off.
A big thank you to Ivan, Natalie and Evi's mums for coming into school and demonstrating some of their cookery skills. We made fruit scones with Natalie's mum, mini biscuits filled with dolce de leche with Ivan's mum and a tzatziki dip with Evi's mum. The children loved the different experiences.
Have a great half term holiday!
