Boys Basketball Curb the Mustangs
Our LVMS 7th grade B team basketball squad had its first away game of the season against Marble Falls Middle School last Thursday night in Marble Falls. Continuing the season tradition, the Vikings took the court against the Ponies and gained a quick first-half lead. The Vikings were up 31-14 at the half and finished the game defeating the Ponies 45-16. Our defensive player of the week is George Poe, and our offensive leader of the week is Ryker Pennington, with 12 points on the night. This victory brings the season record to 2-0.
Our LVMS 8th grade B team basketball squad had its first away game of the season against Marble Falls Middle School last Thursday night in Marble Falls. After a disappointing loss last week against the Ducks, the Vikings took the court against the Ponies with a better understanding of the game. The Ponies were another formidable team and gained an early lead in the first quarter, scoring 20 points, but the Vikings held them to only 4 points in the second quarter. The Vikings improved throughout the game, but could not catch up from the initial deficit and ended up falling to the Ponies 16-37. Our defensive player of this week’s game is Carter Manion and our offensive player of the game is Tyler Tristan, with 5 points on the night. This loss brings the season record to 0-2.
The 7th grade A squad went out to Marble Falls and dominated from start to finish. The Vikings were able to attack and get to the basket with relative ease but had trouble finishing early on. They settled in with some aggressive defense by Trevor Lane, Raylan Horton, and Levi Castro, each getting several steals in the first half. Levi was also effective on offense with 10 points, second only to Ayden Chaffin who got 16. Kaden Hodd, Brody Norris, and Jayden Vargas were vicious on the boards and secured some clutch rebounds. Axton Sharrock contributed with his first points of the season and Lago got their first win of the year, 43-20, improving to 1-1.
8th Grade A team-
Last night the 8th Grade A Lago Vikings took on the Marble Falls Mustangs in an epic contest of team basketball. This was a team effort to overcome the Mustang through four quarters of Basketball. Our leading scores were Steven Schwerdt and Sam Kinslow each with 11. Leading in steals were Devyn Parsons and Keagen Harris. Pushing the ball down the court and leading the team in assists is Karter Kudrna. In a hard-fought battle that went back and forth, the Vikings were able to come out victorious at the end 30 to 21. The Lago Vista Vikings are now 1 and 1 on the season.
Lady Vikings Run With The Mustangs
7th B vs Marble Falls
The Lady Vikings hosted Marble Falls this week. It was a close battle all game with Marble Falls taking the lead in the final minute to win the game 7-9. Peyton Christensen and Liana Stevens worked hard in practice all week learning our new offense and were able to implement it during the game to create scoring opportunities for Aaliyah McAuthur and Madison Hawes. Stella Granger and Sienna McGuire came in strong during the second half and helped their team in rebounds. Stella Maxwell, Shelby Rosprim, and Ariana Yorek were aggressive on defense, coming up with steals during crucial moments to keep the Lady Vikings in the game. Contributing scores in this game were Lauren Carpenter, Aaliyah McAuthur, Peyton Christensen, and Madison Hawes. Next week we host Lampasas to take on the Lady Badgers. We’ll play in the lower gym at 5:15.
8th B vs Marble Falls
The Lady Vikings hosted Marble Falls this week. Kennedy Brown provided great leadership to her team while bringing the ball down the court, setting up our new offense, and being an outlet for her teammates. We were short a few players going into this game which had Leah Escalona, Ava Bailey, and Valerie Marin playing new positions. Valerie and Ava were aggressive on defense and came up with a few steals and fast break opportunities. Sofia Garcia, Melany Cardenas, Kennedy, and Ava fought hard to get rebounds and shots which put Marble Falls in foul trouble. Leading scorers of the night were Ava with 4 points, Kennedy with 3 points, and Hannah Koenning with 3 points. Elle Head and Leah also contributed with points scored. Marble Falls had a strong press in the 1st half that we hadn’t seen yet this year. After half time we re-grouped and were able to move the ball down the court. Marble Falls took the win 14-32. Come see us at home next week in a rematch against the Lampasas Lady Badgers in the lower gym at 6:15.
7th A vs Marble Falls
The Lady Vikings won their game last night against Marble Falls 33-21. This brings our record to 4-2 for the season so far. These ladies keep improving every time they hit the court. Lilah Culbreth scored 18 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist,2 steals, and 1 block. Lila Rodriguez scored 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Kinsley Boyd scored 3 points, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Leya Sund scored as well for the Lady Vikings and had 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Te’A Turner scored for her team as well and had a couple of rebounds and assists. Annabelle Wheeler had a couple of rebounds to help her team take possession of the ball. Shy Krishnamurthy brought the ball down for her team and made some good passes in order for her teammates to score. Aislin Munoz hustled hard and came up with a couple of assists to add to her team's win. Elena Prescott also played great defense and worked hard to help her team in their win last night. Rain Nelson also assisted in her team's win last night by helping out on offense and defense. These ladies continue to work hard and learn new stuff every week. I am super proud of them. They also got 2nd place in the Thrall Tournament before the break losing only one game to a very tough Hutto team. Next Thursday, we play at home against Lampasas. This won’t be a game you want to miss. Come out and support these ladies and show your Viking pride.

Vaping = DAEP
HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.
