Outdoor Ed Week: Days at School
What Students Will Do And What They'll Need
April 7 (6B) or April 11 (6A) -- Community Day
What we will do:
During the week of Outdoor Ed, 6th graders will be participating in an on-site instructional day either Monday the 7th or Friday 11th (depending on when they will be here at Frost). Their day will consist of a Zumba session, an online lesson in which they analyze our changing environment, a poster contest, and a walk to benefit "The Children's Inn at NIH."
What Students Will Need for Community Day
- Sneakers or comfortable shoes in which to participate in Zumba and a walk for charity
- Donations are welcome to help "The Children's Inn at NIH," the beneficiary of our charity walk. One dollar per student would help us reach our goal. Students should bring their cash donation to room 220 any time between April 1st and the day of their walk (April 7th or April 11th). Thank you for your support!
Other Important Information about Community Day
Students should refer to the posters posted between the 6th grade offices (across from room 219) to find their group for the day. Their groups will be provided a color by which they will be referred. The poster will also designate a starting point for their day. They should meet in the classroom that is listed on the poster.
Students will attend their usual 4th and 5th period classes, so be sure to show up prepared to those.
April 8 (6B) or April 10 (6A) -- Financial Literacy Day
What we will do:
The 6th grade team of teachers will once again partner with Junior Achievement to deliver experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. Your 6th grade student will take part in five financial literacy lessons from the Junior Achievement(JA) program, Economics for Success. JA has been a long-standing partner with MCPS in delivering volunteer-led financial literacy lessons to students throughout the county. Economics for Success explores personal finance and students’ education and career options based on their skills, interests, and values. You can learn more about the partnership that exists between MCPS and JA, and preview theEconomics for Success program, by visiting www.myJA.org/montgomery<http://www.myJA.org/montgomery.
