IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Allergy Aware
“Allergy Aware” stickers were placed last summer throughout every WDMCS building to indicate we wish to provide a safe and inclusive allergy aware environment for all students, staff, and visitors.
While preventative measures and response plans are in place to ensure student safety, WDMCS cannot guarantee that a particular classroom or portion of a school is completely allergen free. NO OTHER ALLERGY-RELATED SIGNAGE IS ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING.
Parents/guardians should work with your school nurse to address any specific student allergies. Individual student health plans, Section 504, and/or Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) outline student specific accommodations and are accessible to adults working with students—including substitute teachers and/or assistants in the classroom.
Wellness Policy
WDMCS is making student health and wellness a top priority. Board Policy 608.01 was updated in 2017 to support changes in Federal nutrition guidelines.
What does this mean for you as a parent?
Classroom Events (celebrations, parties, or any activities involving food)
Teachers and parents can choose to either order from the district’s snack menu OR reference a list of items that can be purchased in a store. Snack items NOT listed on the district snack menu or store list will not be allowed for any activities within the school day (and up to 30 minutes after the last bell).
For events where a meal is served rather than a snack (example: pizza party), a fruit or vegetable must also be served to align with the wellness policy revisions.
All K-12 Students Must Be Enrolled for 2019-20
Tiger Enrollment refers to ALL K-12 families (both NEW and RETURNING) within WDMCS completing a NEW online enrollment process through Infinite Campus. This process is not for incoming preschoolers. This step must be completed by primary households for families with more than one household.
You MUST enroll your student prior to the start of school on Friday, Aug. 23.
