Important Information for the Week
Holiday Concert
Unfortunately there has been a small hitch with our original date for the Grade 1-6 Holiday Concert on December 6th at Port Hope High School. We are looking at finding a new date as soon as possible - stay tuned and look for updates in future "Peek at the Week".
Parents - Edsby
We now have almost 300 families (ok, we have 291) who have signed up for Edsby. This is an all time record! This is such a great way to keep in touch with the school (Peek at the Week and our school calendar) as well as connect with the class websites and your child's portfolio. Please email me if you're having any issues getting on and I'll do my best to resolve them asap.
OPHEA Healthy Schools Certification
This year, Ms. Johnston and I have taken on the challenging of attempting to receive a "Healthy Schools Certification" through OPHEA. Our focus is on increasing physical activity with our students, as well as building leadership opportunities with our older students. We are very excited! We will be putting together an advisory committee and are looking for a parent or two to join us. If you are passionate about physical activity and student leadership and would like to help support us, please just let me know. More information about this great program can be found at: https://www.ophea.net/healthy-schools-certification
Every Student Matters Census
This year, Kawartha Pine Ridge DSB will have every student in our board complete the Every Student Matters Census. The Census will be conducted online in February-March to help understand the needs of our students and school communities. Community Information Sessions will also take place over the next few weeks to introduce school communities to the Census. For more information, please go to the board website at www.kprschools.ca. A Questions and Answers document is posted on the Census web page. Additional questions can be sent directly to census@kprdsb.ca
STSCO Winter Cancellation Newsletter
With winter weather conditions soon to be upon us, STSCO would like to provide you with their annual STSCO Winter Weather Newsletter (available by clicking on this link: Winter Newsletter). The Newsletter explains procedures related to cancellation and delay of buses due to weather issues, such as freezing rain or heavy, blowing snow events.
School Council Update
Do you hate selling items as a fundraiser that you don't need or won't ever use? Are you frustrated that all proceeds from third party fundraisers don't support our school? Then you are in luck! We are currently promoting our second annual Donation Drive at Ganaraska Trail, where 100% of all funds go back to supporting school council initiatives. Please consider donating in lieu of buying magazines, chocolates or flowers..... See the flyer sent home last week, also posted below.
