Swift - Slaybaugh Complex
Week of February 11, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Swift-Slaybaugh Families,
It was a fun week full of love and kindness here at the Swift-Slaybaugh Complex! The students celebrated Valentine's Day with their classmates and teachers. We also hit the milestone 100th day of school! Always a special time to look back at everything the students have accomplished and learned since arriving in September.
It was so wonderful to see so many of our families join us for the Sweetheart Dances last weekend. Second and third graders had their dance on Friday and kindergarten and first grade had their dance on Saturday. We are grateful to our Renaissance team, the Parents' Club, Maverick Photo, and our staff volunteers for helping make these special nights come together. We hope that anyone who attended had a great time!
Just a friendly reminder that there will not be school on Monday, in observance of President's Day. I hope that everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend, and we'll see everyone back for the 101st day of school on Tuesday!
Sincerely,
Rachel Casumpang
Principal
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Mrs. Cochrane's Class <3s Learning
Mrs. Cochrane's class enjoyed learning the history of conversation hearts, writing acrostic poems using conversation hearts, and finishing the lesson with a science experiment with the heart candies. The students put their Valentine's scientist hats on and made predictions and observations of what reactions the conversation hearts would have in water, sparkling water, vinegar, and soda. Happy Valentine's Day!
Second Grade LOVES to Learn!
Ms Webster's 2nd Grade students enjoyed a creative Valentine's Day. They started the day with a Love Monster art project, completed a Valentine's Day creative writing project, and ended the day with a math escape room. You could feel the love in room 19 today!

Students from Mrs. Sheeran and Ms. Burnett's first grade class joined Mrs. Ebert's kindergarten classroom for a lesson about kindness from the Healthy Schools Specialist, Kelly Connors.
