Free & Reduced Meal Benefits

Meal benefits are extended for the first 30 days of school for all students that received them at the end of last year. Families are still required to complete an application before the end of the 30 day grace period to retain their benefits for the remainder of this school year. We encourage on-line applications because these can usually be approved within 48 hours whereas paper applications can take up to 10 days for approval. The Big Creek website contains all the information and links needed to apply on-line. It also provides information on how to obtain a paper application. The application (on-line and paper) and related information is also available in Spanish. Access the application here.

New Check In and Out Procedures

We also have a new paperless procedure for check-in and check-outs this year. When you arrive to check your student in/out for an appointment, please bring your phone and ID to the security desk. You will scan a QR code to access our online form. You will need to know your child's student ID number. Once completed, we will contact your child's teacher and they will meet you in the security area. Thank you for your patience as we implement these changes!

A Message from Deputy Gober

Parents,

Please remember there are NO left turns out of the Big Creek parking lot. There have been cars attempting this and several close calls. Please do not take any unnecessary risks on such a busy road.

Important Parent Portal Information

Please make sure you have an active Parent Portal (Infinite Campus) account. Now, more than ever, you will need access to your child's information through the Portal.

If you do not have an account, please visit this link to complete the Forsyth County Schools online Parent Portal Request.

If you need to update your personal data or non-household contact in your Parent Portal, please follow these directions.

Calling all second and fourth grade virtual students. Your math Envision books have arrived! We will have a drive-thru pick up for our virtual students to get their math Envision book on Friday, August 28, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Please have a sign in your window with your child's first and last name, grade, and teacher. You may come anytime during the window and pull through the car rider line. Students will be completing assignments in the Envision workbook, so these books must be picked up.

A Note from Nurse G

Welcome back, Wildcats!

I know this year is starting differently than previous years, but I could not be more proud of how well everyone is doing wearing their masks, distancing from others, and cleaning their hands! Information regarding COVID-19 signs and symptoms can be found on the Restart Forsyth page. Remember, if a student or someone in the student's household has COVID-19 or is exposed to COVID-19, please keep the student home and notify your student's teacher, administration, or myself.

If your student has a health condition that may require additional support while at school (asthma, allergies, seizures, etc.) please visit BCE's school nurse webpage and click on forms. There you will find different action plans. Please choose the one that is appropriate for your student's needs, print it, and take it to your student's pediatrician to complete. Once completed please notify me and we can setup an appointment for you to bring in your child's medication. If no medication is required, you may send the form to school with your student.

Only together can we keep all our Wildcats healthy!

How to Be the Best Learning Coach for Your Student

A Learning Coach is one who is with the student for the hours that he/she is engaged in virtual learning. Typically, a Learning Coach is a student’s parent, guardian, or caregiver. A Learning Coach sits alongside the students as they learn to navigate the virtual environment.

The Learning Coach’s role is critical to the success of online learning experiences for elementary students. During the early weeks of the school year, students will need full-time support. Thank you for partnering with us as a Learning Coach this year. You make a difference in the education of your child(ren). You can find more information about the Learning Coach's responsibilities here.

Does Your Student Need Our Counselor?

Our wonderful school counselor, Ms. Rounds, misses seeing our virtual students around the building. Please have your child use this form if they need to talk with her about how they are doing. They can use this form as many times as they need while they are learning online. It's just like leaving Ms. Rounds a note in her mailbox!
