Northwest Early Elementary

October 2020

Halloween News

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, celebrating Halloween will look much different this year at the elementary buildings. In order to maintain a safe environment for everyone, the following restrictions will be taking place this year:

  • Costumes will not be worn at school and there will not be any type of parade.

  • Visitors will unfortunately not be allowed to be in the building.

  • Snacks cannot be brought to school to be passed out to others. This includes pre-packaged foods. *Students will be receiving a Halloween treat as part of the school lunch on October 30.

Halloween-themed activities, resources, etc. will still be encouraged to celebrate this holiday and we will try to be creative during the school day. We appreciate everyone’s support in keeping our students, staff and community healthy!

Dear Mountie Nation,

Northwest Early Elementary is off to a great start in the 2020-2021 school year. Our staff has been very intentional about building positive relationships with our students and our Northwest families. As these relationships become stronger, trust is built and students are able to reach their potential academically.

Whether you are a Face to Face student or Mountie Virtual Program student, attending to your school work on a daily basis is very important. We are watching the attendance here at school in combination with daily work being accomplished in our students' homes. Although this learning platform is new to everyone, we know that consistency is vital to our students' foundational learning.

Fall is here and the weather is changing! Please dress your students in layers, so they are warm in the morning, but can also take a sweatshirt off to enjoy the pleasant afternoon weather that we are all hoping for.

I greatly appreciate your continued support and look forward to the 2020-2021 school year!

  • Over-the-counter medications (cough drops, Tylenol, Tums) must have doctor's order.

Parking Lot Safety Reminders

  • Please stay off your cell phone! Your eyes on the road are the best tools for parking lot safety.
  • Please continue to pull all the way up and use the crosswalk.
  • If you need to escort your child inside please park in a designated parking spot and not along the drop-off curb.

MORNING TARDINESS

We encourage promptness since tardies affect everyone and disrupt classroom time. One of the most valuable life skills a student can learn from his/her parent/guardian is the responsibility of arriving at school every day on time. Morning is the time when important school news is announced, teachers define the plans for the day, and instructional goals are reviewed and set. The whole tone of a child’s school day is set in the first part of the day.

  • School starts at 8:55 a.m.

  • If your student is not participating in their classroom morning routine by 9:05 a.m. they will be considered tardy.

  • Students not in their classroom seat by 9:05 a.m. shall be considered tardy.

  • If the supervisory aides are not present when you drop off your student, they are tardy. Please make sure to come in the office and sign them in.

  • Doctor appointments/professional appointments are excused with a doctors note.

Please help support your child in learning habits that will help them be successful at school and throughout life. If you need help or have concerns getting your child to school on time please contact the office. We are here to help.

ABSENCES

If your child will be absent from school please contact Danielle at 817-4981 or email danielle.kloack@nwschool.org.
