Red Ribbon Week
Attention Gators and Families!
Red Ribbon Week will be November 14th – 18th
We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week in a number of ways. First, we will have a spirit week! Please see the dress up day schedule below.
Spirit Week:
Monday – I moustache you to wear red! (Wear red & your best moustache to kick off the week)
Tuesday – Team up against bullying & drugs! (Wear your favorite team’s jersey)
Wednesday – From head to toe we are bully & drug free! (Crazy hair & sock day)
Thursday - We are too bright for drugs and bullying! (Wear your brightest clothing)
Friday – South Creek is Drug & Bully free! (Wear your Gator Gear)
In addition, I will be doing guidance lessons with each classroom during library. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade lessons will happen the week before. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade lessons will be during Red Ribbon Week. During the lessons, your students will be learning about the adverse effects of drugs & alcohol, as well as how to stand up to bullying. I encourage you to talk to your students about these topics and create a meaningful discussion about what they’ve learned.
Students will also be able to win Red Ribbon Week themed prizes throughout the week! There will also be prizes for classrooms with the most participation with the spirit week.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Recipe of the Month by Katy Walker
Hey Gators, I’m back with another recipe...Caprese Bread!
This recipe is very, very simple. Caprese Bread is my favorite appetizer of all time. And if you are in a hurry don’t worry because they don’t take long.
Ingredients
- 1 french baguette
- 4-5 roma tomatoes
- fresh mozzarella
- fresh basil
- olive oil
- sea salt
Preheat oven to 400*. Slice baguette ¼” slices. Place on jelly roll pan, drizzle with olive oil. Bake for about 5 minutes, or until slightly toasted. Put a slice of tomato on each baguette, and then place a slice of mozzarella over each tomato. Drizzle with olive oil and put back in oven until cheese is melted. Roughly chop the fresh basil and sprinkle over each baguette. Drizzle a little more olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt.
Catching Up with the Community by Teegan Quick
Hey Gators, guess what? It has already been about 14 weeks of school! But today I wanted to talk about outside of school! Today I’m going to be interviewing a firefighter! That’s right, she helps the community be a better place! So today I’m going to be asking her some questions about her job and what she does to help the community.
The first thing I wanted to know about this brave woman is when did she start, fighting fires? I also really wanted to know, if anyone else in her family was a firefighter? Something I especially wanted to know was if it was to help the community? The last thing I wanted to know was, what is her favorite part about being a firefighter?
Bowling by Reece Koomler
Have you heard the great news from Mrs. Curtis? The people from Expo Bowl are coming to help us learn how to bowl. Every time you get a strike you get a sticker. They like to give you funny names, last year I had a very, very funny name. At the end, the boy and girl that got the most strikes, or stickers play against each other to see who is the best bowler in your class. At the very end, before you leave, they give you and your friends coupons for fun places like Expo Bowl, Great Times, and Lazer Tag.
Have Fun!
