Holy Name of Mary Winter Update
January 2021
Dear Families,
Happy New Year to all of our Holy Name of Mary families. We continue to miss being back at School and are looking forward to getting back to business next week. Please note in the update there are several changes that are being mandated by Public Health.
Sincerely,

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
- Please send indoor shoes with your child on Monday which will remain at School.
- For the safety of our staff and students, we ask that parents remain in their vehicles when using the Kiss & Ride zones in the morning and afternoon. Once the cars in front of you have moved, please carefully drive forward. Not only will this ensure safety, but will allow the Kiss & Ride system to work efficiently. In addition, fewer people congregating in the designated zones will allow us to adhere to the COVID protocols in place.
- We ask that you ensure your child arrives at School prepared for the day with their lunch, water bottle, masks, indoor shoes, mitts, hats and snow pants. Any personal belongings dropped off after the School day begins will need to be left outside the front door for your child to pick up when time permits from their class instruction.
Milk, Pizza and Sub Orders
With the closure of HNOM for the past 3 weeks, families who ordered milk, pizza and/or subs for their children for the month of January will now have their payments applied for three weeks starting this coming Monday, January 25th (Jan. 25 - Feb. 12).
Cash on-line will be available the first week of February for families to order food items for the remaining weeks of February and early March.

LEEDS, GRENVILLE & LANARK HEALTH UNIT UPDATE
School Immunization Clinics: Do you have a child in grade 7, 8 or 9 that still needs their Hep B, HPV or Meningitis immunizations? The Health Unit will be scheduling additional catch-up clinics, so stay tuned for dates and locations. For more information: http://bit.ly/Grade7Immunizations
The 4 D’s of Mask Wearing: If a mask becomes DAMP, DIRTY or DAMAGED, change it up, and wash cloth masks at least DAILY! A dirty mask no longer does the job of protecting others and puts the person wearing it at risk of contaminating themselves. Did you know? You can hand-wash cloth face coverings in a sink or basin and hang them to dry. This can be a great way to teach laundry skills to children of any age. For more information on masks and how to obtain free or low-cost masks, visit: https://healthunit.org/health-information/covid-19/face-coverings-masks/

Snow Day Reminders
Please send your child to School on snow days dressed for the winter weather. Snow days are like any other school day. Children will be going outside for morning, lunch and afternoon recess.
If your child is walking home by themselves on snow days, please inform the teacher through TEAMS or the School Office, so that we are aware.
ONLY the front Kiss & Ride Zone will be available on snow days for end of day pickup. This is to ensure safety for our students and staff during inclement weather.
There will be NO pizza or sub lunches provided on snow days. Please ensure your child comes to School with a lunch.
REMINDER: If your child routinely walks to School, please ensure you call the office on snow days if your child will be staying home. The office needs to be aware of your child's absence to ensure the safety of all our students.
