WRESTLING STATE CHAMPION!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Monteria (Lasha) Bigsby for winning the TSSAA State Championship in her wrestling weight class. She is the first lady warrior wrestler to bring home this title AND she did it in her first year of wrestling! Congratulations as well to Coach Rudas, Coach Sacharczyk and Coach Keeley.

Congratulations to TK Goff and Garen Haney on being named 7-AAA All District for the season. Congratulations to Acacia Hayes on being named the 7-AAA Co-MVP and 7-AAA All-Tournament! Acacia is also an AAA Miss Basketball Finalist and a Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year Finalist!

You've taken the pictures - now it's time to verify your name for the yearbook! In the front entrance of the building (over by the trophy case) are all the senior portrait pages. Follow the steps below to verify.


  1. Find your picture
  2. Make sure your name is spelled correctly (as it appears in Skyward)
  3. Make sure your name matches your picture
  4. If there is an issue, scan the QR on the wall
  5. If there are no issues, YAY! You're all done 🙂


You have until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 3rd to verify. Underclassmen will be posted for verification later this week.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Miranda Cameron, Mercedes Glasgow, and Emma Brewer on earning 2nd place for their Nutrition Project in FCCLA's Star Events! They will be competing in state competitions April 13.

RHS Band News

2021 MTSBOA Honor Band Audition Results

Congrats to the following students for earning a position in the Middle TN School Band and Orchestra Association's Mid-State Honor Band Clinic. These students submitted video recorded auditions that were adjudicated by MTSBOA Association members and selected from students all across Middle Tennessee.


9th Grade: Aidan Amphonephong - 10th Chair, Silver Band (trumpet)


11th Grade: Sage Taylor - 2nd Chair, Silver Band (baritone sax)

12th Grade: Kane Davis - Alternate (horn)

12th Grade: Riley Russell - 2nd Chair, Gold Band (baritone sax)


Marine Band Masterclasses

Throughout February and March (March is Music in our Schools Month), the Riverdale Band is hosting several masterclasses by members of the "President's Own" U.S. Marine Band. In February, members of the Marine Band hosted a masterclass on "Brass Instrument Fundamentals" and in March the masterclass will cover "Tips for a Successful Music Audition". These masterclasses have also featured RHS student performances. Elgin Hii (trombone) performs for Master Seargent Matt Summers during the February masterclass (pictured).

SENIORS!!!

The decision has been made to extend the Tennessee Promise Scholarship FAFSA deadline and the priority FAFSA deadline for the Tennessee Student Assistance Award to March 1, 2021. This deadline extension will be in effect for new and continuing students.

C/O 2022! Work-Based Learning

ATTN: Class of 2022! Work-Based Learning is an elective course available to Seniors here at Riverdale. Students need to apply by following the link below and submitting the form. Students participate in individual work-based learning experiences in professional settings when they meet the hours required for full time course equivalent. These experiences include registered apprenticeships, cooperative education (co-op), and internships.

Red Cross Blood Drive-March 5th!

Our next Red Cross blood drive will take place from 8 AM - 2 PM on March 5th in the Red Cross donor coach outside the gym. Please see Mr. Lewis for more information!

Virtual Enterprise

Virtual Enterprise is a Junior/Senior class that offers:

-students/entrepreneurs the ability to run a virtual business

-Departments include-marketing, sales & design, accounting, administration, and human resources

-Travel to Pigeon Forge and NYC for possible competetions!

-You also get your ECONOMICS credit!!!!

Student Council News

Student Council meets every Monday night at 6:00 in the SLR. If you are interested in joining, you are welcome to attend a meeting. Masks and social distancing are required at meetings. If you would like more information, please see a Student Body officer or a teacher-sponsor (Mr. Raney, Mrs. Cerchiaro, Mrs. McDowell or Ms. Proctor).

Student Spotlight-Lexy Mejia

Alejandra (Lexy) Mejia is a bright and fun freshman at Riverdale High School. She is patient with others, and kind to the people around her. She listens and pays attention well in class, and always tries her best on everything she does. We are so proud to have her here at RHS!

Staff Spotlight-Hunter Intorcia

Ms. Intorcia is an ESL teacher at Riverdale. She has done a lot of work with monitoring of transition students, working with teachers and students on failures, and does a lot to help with WIDA coordination (huge job with changes due to absences and getting DLs to attend). Plus, she is an awesome PLC lead and helps keep the team focused and on task in those meetings. She works so hard to make sure that everyone feels heard. She runs the chess club and attends events here at the school.
