Water Pollution

what it is, and the types

What it is?

surface water, such as the water in rivers and lakes can be polluted by the waste from cities and factories. pollution is the induction of harmful substances into the environment. often, water can become so polluted that it is no longer able to be used.

The types of pollution

point-source pollution- waste that is released from a single source like a factory. in most cases this type can be controlled becasue it is easier to identify. non-point source- pollution that comes from many sources. usually urban runoff, or construction/forestry. this type is harder to controll because it comes from many different sources.
