Dear Parents / Carers,

This week has been a quieter week in school as we reach the end of the first half term and it has been lovely to see how settled the children are in terms of routines and how far they have already come in terms of progress in their learning.

Next week is half term and children return to school on Tuesday 1st November. On Friday 4th November there will be a parents' coffee morning in the hall from 8:45am and from 3pm we will be opening all our classrooms for parents to have a look round and a brief look at pupil books with your child. You are very welcome to join us at either or both of these events. Mrs Slater (Coelho) and Mr Symes (Shakespeare) will both be attending the coffee morning until 9:15 should you wish to have an informal chat with them as will myself and Mrs Cameron.

Please remind your children that we do not allow the trading of Pokemon or other cards in school and therefore pupils should not be bringing them into school at all. These are causing several arguments which are disrupting playtimes and taking time to sort out. Thank you for your support with this.

Have a lovely half term

Winning Team

The Orange Spitfires are victorious this week. Well done to Olivia M, Ivor and their team.

It is so great to see that even after a long half term, lots of children are still working really hard to improve their maths skills.

Our Numbots superstars this week are Jack S, Elin C, Evie S, Jessica S, Arthur A and Heidi M - well done!

Our TT Rockstars certificates this week go to Maxim S, Tom M, Ryo L, Evie H, Oliver G and Clara M. Congratulations!

Remember to keep practising over half term! When I choose the next certificates, I will look at the effort people make during the half term break too.

Message from Head Pupils

This week we have had black history month and we focused on people that were determined to make sure black people got the same rights as white people. Such as Martin Luther King, Nina Simone and Harriet Tubman. We hope that everyone has a nice school holiday and comes back refreshed and ready to learn.

Head Pupil certificates went to Connie in Zephaniah and Skye in Donaldson.

Governor News

Welcome to Anna Rawlings who is our new parent governor. She is the mum of Clara in Hughes Class.

" I have enjoyed two visits to Collective Worship this half term.

Reverend Paulie spoke with the children about the importance of looking after all God's creatures, from the smallest of animals, to each other. The children enjoyed discussing many of the types of pets they have at home; there was some variety including a bearded dragon, and rats!

I have listened to pupils chat respectfully to share ideas and then discuss them with Mrs Williams regarding some of Jesus' work.

It is also really joyful and uplifting to hear the children singing, and to join in with them, which started my mornings on a really positive note!"

Staff Thank You's

If anyone would like to say thank you to or has any positive comments for a member of staff then please complete and submit the form below.

We had a great start to the year with our first playground sale, our bears and donuts sale raised over £170. Hope the children are enjoying their bears.

We're all busy planning the Christmas Fair, which will take place after school on Friday 9th December. Keep a look out on our Facebook page for updates after half term on the raffle prizes - there are some great prizes up for grabs.

We will be looking for volunteers to help set up / run or tidy up after the fair. So please do let us know if you would be able to help at all, it doesn't need to be for the whole time. Any help is appreciated, without the help of volunteers it won't be possible to hold larger scale events like Christmas Fairs.

Please email friends@kf.starmat.uk if you're able to offer any help.
