Dolphin Digest Purpose
A Message from Mrs. Baker
How do I love our staff? Let me count the ways:
I love us more than mere words can state.
You see, we’re devoted to students and improving their fate
I love our staff to the moon and back,
For with each and every student, we have the right knack.
We inspire and motivate with creativity and spark,
That’s because we support and nurture from our hearts.
Whether teachers, counselors, dining room attendants, plant operators, or bus drivers,
We encourage our students to be learners and strivers.
With voices strong and heads held high,
We challenge each one to reach for the sky.
And when we need to speak up and advocate,
Our words are always timely and never late.
We raise our voice in the school,
To ensure our students have resources, support, and tools.
So on Valentine’s Day—and every day, in fact—
I want our staff to know your administration always has your back!

News to Note
OBSERVATION: If you have not scheduled your second semester formal observation, please do so. Formal observations will be completed before spring break
GRADES: Please remember that is imperative that you keep your student grades current in FOCUS. There are parents with parent portal accounts and when they log into FOCUS they are able to see their child's grades and behavioral records. When the information is not current, it could create a problem for your parent communication. As we all know, ongoing communication is the key to success.
Black History Month: Please send me pictures of any special classroom activities to celebrate Black History Month
3rd grade: Scheduling Potential Retainee conferences should be happening these next few weeks with a deadline of all being notified by February 14th.
New Face: Branden Dickenson will begin 2/17/2020 as a plant operator. He will replace Jacobi Middlebrook.
Supervision: I am still noticing students that are not being properly supervised during recess. This can lead to student injury or negative social interactions that carry into the classroom. Students should never be left unsupervised inside or outside of the classroom. I will be addressing individual staff members who fail to adequately supervise students in their care.
Attendance: Attendance must be taken by 9am. We will discontuine calling into classrooms to remind teachers to take attendance to avoid interrupting the instruction.

School Counseling Week
District Wide Training
- February 17th DWT :If you have not registered, don’t forget to do so. The quicker you register, the more likely that you will get into the break-out sessions that you want. Here are somethings to know from the district to help you plan…Reminders:
- Non-instructional support staff should not attend District Wide Training Day. They will have a Catalog of Choice Day later in the school year on March 23rd.
- PE Assistants should not attend the Spring DWT training.
- CDA’s should attend training along with the Pre-K ESE teacher at Northeast High
- Elementary pull-out gifted teachers should report to Ridgecrest Elementary School.
- Center for Gifted Studies Magnet teachers should attend their regular grade level DWT for the morning session and are invited to join pull-out teachers at Ridgecrest Elementary School for the afternoon session.
- Only register for the training offered in your dominant grade level/teaching area (for example, if you are a classroom teacher you will sign up for the main grade level you teach even if you have interest in working in a different grade). If you sign up for a grade that is not your dominant area, you will be unenrolled and will not receive credit for the training.
- If you teach ESE: ESE Elementary teachers and Elementary Behavior Specialists will attend ESE DWT at Richard L. Sanders School.
- Exception: Elementary Resource and Secondary VE Teachers of Non-Access courses may choose to attend content area DWT at other locations
- Support staff in Pre-K/VPK classrooms (CDAs, PreK ESE Associates) should attend training along with the Pre-K ESE teacher at Northeast High
- If you teach in an elementary grade: Register for all 4 breakout sessions.
- The session times in PLN will not match the actual meeting times. Please use the times listed in SharePoint.
- Plan to bring your laptop computer with you to each of the breakout sessions

Shout Out
- Thank you Sheila for your dedication to Lakeview. I am thankful for you coming in Friday with a smile after getting stuck in Pinellas County overnight due the high winds that closed down the skyway. I know you husband and Beacon missed you.
- Thank you all for an awesome conference week. I know our parents value the time they get to learn about how they can partner with you.
