A Note From the Principal

Thank you to everyone who came out to make our Black History Month program a success. It was nice to see so many families celebrating our scholars.

Re-enrollment is now underway. Please ensure you submit your intent to re-enroll through either the link in this newsletter, at PIT Day, or through the re-enrollment packets coming home. This Wednesday is our spring Parents In Touch (PIT) Day. Scholars will be learning remotely while teachers meet with families.

Please continue to encourage your scholar to be prepared and on time for class. Encourage them to read 20 minutes a day and to be actively engaged in class. We appreciate every effort as we work together in the development of your scholar.

Scholars First,

Mr. Carrion

Our spring PIT Day is scheduled for this Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Sign up sheets went home last week and your assigned time will be sent home with your scholar tomorrow. Please plan on attending your scheduled conference to discuss your scholar's progress as we prepare for the state testing season.

This will be a remote learning day for scholars. No in person instruction will take place on Wednesday. Packets will be sent home on Tuesday that are expected to be returned on Thursday. These packets will be taken for a grade and attendance purposes. Failure to return the packet will result in your scholar receiving a zero and being marked with an unexcused absence.

Scholars in third grade are eagerly preparing for the IREAD-3 state assessment. Each day, scholars are receiving a 20 minute review session with an emphasis on reading foundations and reading comprehension. To support this preparation, we are requiring that scholars read for 20 minutes each night. Families: Please ask your scholar to summarize what they read. Additional information will be coming out as we get closer to the testing window.

The IREAD-3 testing window opens on March 7, 2022. Our scholars will be testing on March 14 through 18. Please start making plans now to ensure your scholar is in attendance and on time during these testing dates.

Mask Policy

Please ensure that your scholar(s) comes to school each day with two masks, one properly fitted on their face upon arrival to school and an extra mask in their backpack for emergency use. Scholars that arrive at school without a mask will not be permitted to exit vehicles for temperature checks or enter our building. Masks should fit snugly over the nose, mouth, and chin. We will no longer be providing disposal masks for scholars except in the event of an extreme emergency.

No Visitor Policy

Due to the highly transmissible COVID-19 Omicron variant, we will be implementing a NO visitor policy at our school campus until further notice. We are strongly committed to keeping the health and safety of our scholars, families, faculty, and staff our top priority. All parent meetings and conferences will be held via phone or video calls. In the event that your scholar(s) arrive late to school or need to be picked up early please call and notify our front office administrator of the event. We will accommodate extreme emergencies and extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Dress Code Policy

As discussed in our town hall meetings, we will be strongly enforcing our school dress code policy upon our return to school. Scholars should be dressed for school each day in uniform specific to their grade level dress code. I am requesting that your scholar arrives at school each day following the dress code policy and is ready to learn.
