It is hard to believe, but this year is quickly coming to a close, and so is your child's time at Gemini Middle School. This newsletter has a lot of information about specific events and opportunities available to you and your 8th grader, including graduation, yearbooks, and the end-of-the-year Great America trip. Please take a few moments to read through the newsletter and reach out if you have questions.
All my best,
Lewis Roberts
Principal
Great America Trip
On Friday, June 2, 2023, 8th-grade students can attend a field trip with their classmates to celebrate the end of their time at Gemini and District 63. Students will spend the day at Great America with their classmates and teachers, celebrating one last time together before heading to high school. Please visit our site at https://store.emsd63.org/ to sign the permission slip and pay for the trip no later than Sunday, April 16, 2023. Late registrations will not be accepted. You may use these step-by-step instructions for registration.
Class of 2023 Graduation - Save the Date
Our Class Of 2023 Graduation Ceremony will be held this year on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 6 PM at Maine West High School. Due to summer construction beginning in mid-May, Maine East is unavailable this year.
All students will receive THREE tickets for graduation. The tickets are for family members/friends to attend the ceremony; the graduate does not need a ticket. Please note any human being entering the ceremony needs a ticket, it does not matter the age. At this time, we are unable to offer extra tickets.
IAR Testing
All Gemini students will take the reading and mathematics tests for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) April 10 - April 14. Please ensure your child gets a good night's rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and brings their charged Chromebook to school on time each day!
Vaping 101: What Parents Need to Know
Please join us for an important parent presentation Vaping 101:What Parents Need to Know on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 6:30 PM in the Gemini Auditorium. Information will be presented by Mr. Tim Mackin, Gemini's Dean of Students, in cooperation with staff from Maine East High School.
