Common Name and Chemical Formula

My chemical, sodium hypochlorite, is commonly known as Clorox. Clorox's chemical formula is NaOCl. Which tells you that there is one sodium molecule, one oxygen molecule, and one chlorine molecule.

Uses of Sodium Hypochlorite

Clorox is used in many different ways. It is most commonly used as a cleaning solution. It works as disinfectant dilated at 90-85%. In a household setting it can also be used as laundry bleaching, sanitizers, and spa and residential pool treatment. On larger scale industrial use, Sodium hypochlorite can be used for water treatment, commercial laundry bleach, liquid detergent, textile bleaching, and the like.

When bleach is injected, it will irritate the mucus membranes of the mouth, nose, and throat. It may cause nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting.

It is an ionic compound.
