How does JROTC affect you?
The Commanding officer is Cadet Commander Katalina Archiable. She said, “Since I joined JROTC as a freshman, my life has improved in every aspect. I have grown in leadership skills, time management, discipline, athletics and my self confidence. As I gained more experience I was given more opportunities within our program. I am now trusted to help cadets learn as I was taught to be the future leaders of JROTC and outside of JROTC. I have always been a busy person when it comes to extracurricular activities, but by joining this program it has further instilled in me the importance of being on time and prepared for every occasion. In addition to managing each and every event and deadline, I have expanded my understanding that my actions have consequences and to accept my mistakes and improve / learn from them. I never worked out physically outside of dance teams before JROTC, however because of this program fitness has become a very important part of my life. JROTC is an easy program, if you are willing to put the work and effort into learning knowledge and trying your best. In my opinion, each and every student in High School should participate in one semester of JROTC because JROTC prepares you for the real world with hands-on experiences that you will see again in the future. While joining the military is not for everyone, the skills learned through the JROTC program are relevant for all students. I would argue that students that go through the JROTC are much better equipped for life beyond high school as independent and responsible citizens. I feel more prepared for the future because I have gained knowledge, respect for others, a handful of life long reliable friends and teachers who have my back at all times.”
