Notes from the Administration

I have come to admire the kindness and patience that our Whittier parents and community offer to Whittier Elementary. This was so apparent in the kindness that was extended to Mrs. Feaga on her last day.

I know that same kindness and patience will be demonstrated over the next few weeks as we transition with a new 12 month secretary. We are waiting for Human Resources to make the official offer, until that time we are working with one secretary. I appreciate your patience with us.

Call to Action- Let Your Voice be Heard

Your voice matters and our students deserve us advocating for them!

We know FCPS families value public education. County residents are invited to share your priorities using the Frederick County Government's budget surveys, online now until Sunday, March 31:

Our fifth grade students have a big milestone coming up and we want to send them off in style! Our fifth grade celebration will be June 7th with a rain date of June 10th. To pull it off, we'll need lots of volunteers. Please be on the look out for a Sign-Up Genius outlining many volunteer opportunities, Additional information will be coming home soon. If you have any questions, please contact Jen Waugaman at jennifer.waugaman@fcps.org or Jenn Milsovic at craig_jennifera@yahoo.com.
Big picture

Did you see a certain music teacher quoted in a front page article in the Frederick News Post on Wednesday? Miss Fishel has been working for a year and a half with FAME (Frederick Acoustic Music Enterprise) who donated well over 400 ukuleles--including 30 to Whittier--to a dozen elementary schools in Frederick County. Mr. Wagaman participated in the program on Tuesday night and both music teachers are excited to play ukuleles with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders soon!
