Teacher Talk
It's a short week around here! Everyone (but teachers) will be off on Monday and Tuesday. Enjoy your long weekend.
Hopefully, everyone is working on making their products! Here is a timeline for parents to help keep you sane! It's also on our website in the newsletter section.
**If your child brings a lunch from home, please include a napkin, cutlery, and a drink. The cafeteria monitors cannot keep up with all of the students getting up for these things.
APEX Fun Run Begins!
We shall start our school spring fundraiser. This year it’s being run through APEX and will involve students getting pledges from family members and friends for laps they run around the track on March 1. This fundraiser is school wide and not run through our PTA. (It’s completely different from the “Stuff the Boots” that took place at the beginning of the year.) More information will come home with your child as we near the February 21st “kick-off” date.

Concepts We'll Study:
Our Driving Question: How can we, as entrepreneurs, create a business that benefits our community?
This week the entrepreneurs will continue to work on advertising. We'll look at examples of what makes a good ad. We'll begin thinking about what would make our businesses stand out. We'll work on advertising skills and video ourselves to see what we look and sound like.
We will also study contractions, proper nouns, expository writing techniques and will analyze the Reading STAAR Ready.
We will add in research writing this week. Everyone is excited to learn about entrepreneurs!
Science:
It's all about relationships with that big star of gas the Sun! We'll be looking at the relationships of the Sun, Earth, and moon, including orbits and positions. We will also work to identify the planets in Earth's solar system and their position in relation to the Sun.
Math:
We begin looking at equivalent fractions this week! Area models (circles, rectangles), sets (groups of items) and number lines (equal partitions on a number line) will be explored and compared.
