What is Newton's 1st Law of Motion?
Newtons 1st Law of Motion (Newton's Law of Inertia) states that an object at rest or in motion will stay this way unless acted on by an unbalenced force. To clarify, the definition of staying in motion is to move in a straight line at a constant speed.
Inertia measures an object's tendency to remain at rest or keep moving at a constant speed. The amount of inertia an object has depends on its mass. If an object has more mass then it will have more inertia.
What does this have to do with me?
Believe it or not...
Many things that occur in real life prove this law. For example, when you are driving a car you are in motion. According to Newton's 1st law of Motion, an object in motion will want to stay in motion. When you slam on the brakes, your body will want to stay in motion and go forward because of the unbalenced force stopping you from going forward. The only thing stopping you is the seatbelts that you should be wearing and inertia. Inertia will affect the object that has the most mass the most
