111 people of all ages took part in our Day of Service event
Christian Community Action Food Pantry
25 volunteers sorted food items and stocked shelves at the pantry.
504 boxes of food (5,544 items):
- 2,520 cans of vegetables/beans
- 1,512 cans of chicken/tuna
- 504 boxes of spaghetti
- 504 jars of pasta sauce
- 504 jars of peanut butter
The Salvation Army
38 volunteers completed four projects at The Salvation Army.
Landscaping: Planted 80-90 plants to enhance the landscape. Flowers donated by local plant grower David Shires in conjunction with Calloway’s in Flower Mound.
Mulching: Laid a truckload of mulch to enhance the property. Mulch was donated by 1-2-Tree of Flower Mound.
General Cleanup: Cleaned gutters, took down Christmas lights, trimmed shrubs and added fence weave in chain link fence around the storage area.
Picnic Tables: Assembled and painted three new picnic tables to add outdoor seating. Paint donated by Sherwin-Williams in Coppell and a discount was given on the picnic tables by Lowe’s in Lewisville.
Lewisville Fire Stations
14 volunteers visited three local fire stations.
The group prepared and delivered a lasagna lunch, and then sang and prayed over local firefighters. Food was donated by Dianna King, Carolyn Simpson and Kirk Wilken.
Vista Ridge Nursing and Rehab and Arbor House
17 volunteers supported Arbor House and Vista Ridge Nursing residents and staff with three initiatives.
Worship Services: 4 volunteers led worship services that included a short message and the singing of hymns. A team of volunteers visits both locations each Sunday year-round to provide worship for the residents.
Cookie Packaging/Delivery: 5 volunteers packaged, labeled and delivered cookies to the staff in appreciation of their dedicated work. Cookies for the staff appreciation were donated by Market Street in Coppell, Vera Jo Bell, Martha Chiles, Bernadette Ealy, Chanel Ridgley and Carolyn Simpson.
Flower Pot Craft: 8 volunteers made a Jesus is Alive flower pot craft for the Vista Ridge Nursing residents. The craft will be delivered Sunday, May 12, during Traveling Ministry worship.
Rockbrook Elementary
13 volunteers supported Rockbrook Elementary teachers and students.
91 thank you notes were written to Rockbrook teachers and staff thanking them for their dedicated service and love of their students.
180 encouragement notes were written to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students taking the STAAR test.
