HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Where has the time gone?! From what I can recall, it was a beautiful summer day with kiddos being dropped off for the first day of school -- I blinked and the next thing I know we are starting the second semester... WHOA.
To say that this school year seems to be flying by would be an understatement. But, what I have learned thus far is that every day is a new adventure at Fulton Elementary School. I hope the time has not gone by too fast for all parents as their little ones continue to grow up so fast. I also hope that the first semester has been filled with fun stories about school and a lot of growth in their learning.
And we're just getting started.
We have some big things planned for the future of FES. But what else would you expect from the Greatest Little Elementary School in the Universe? :)

Meaningful conversations with our children are important. Meaningful conversations build trust and develop your child’s confidence. Your child learns that you care about them, you know them, and you are interested in what they think, feel, and do.
Here are some ideas for conversation starters:
1. Who did you help today?
2. Did anyone help you today?
3. Did you notice anyone struggling today? How did you help?
4.Why is it important that friends, teachers, and students help each other during the day?
5.Is there anything that you wish you would have done differently today?

2nd Grade Circuits
Thank You!
The students in 2B received a new carpet through an Eric Ottens Memorial Grant. As you can see from the picture, we are really excited to have our new carpet! Some of our best memories are made when we gather on our carpet! The carpet has become a necessity in our room. We gather on the carpet many times every day. Without a rug our floor is cold and hard. My students love having a clean and comfortable space of their own while they take on the learning challenges of 2nd grade! Students are a lot more willing to share and be part of a discussion when they feel comfortable. It also allows students to stay focused on their learning. A big thank you to the Eric Ottens Memorial Grant. We give our new carpet many thumbs up!

January Reading Incentive
The January Reading Incentive began on January 1st. Students have a packet of papers they took home. The LRC and PTO will be promoting the new playground with a Read-A-Thon during the January Reading Incentive. Please take a moment to share this information with your class. There are reading slips that they may begin filling out on Jan. 1 . We have increased the minutes challenged to 150,000 minutes, so everyone please read!
The Read-A-Thon papers are also in the packet. Students may share with family and friends over the holiday break. Adults may pledge money for minutes read or a donation. Any money received is deeply appreciated by our hard working PTO towards the new playground equipment.
UPDATE:
The January Reading Incentive, Big Top Books, is off to a great start. Over 10,000 minutes have been read toward our goal of 150,000 minutes.Riverfront Antiques in Clinton has lent Fulton Elementary their beloved horse, Trigger, for the entire month. Trigger takes quarters to give a fun filled circus ride. Students may ride the horse any time that teachers permit. The horse may also be used as a behavior incentive. ALL quarters received throughout the month will be donated to the new playground that PTO has been raising funds for.
The Read-A-Thon has been receiving donations for PTO. The checks or money can be brought to the LRC or to Stacey for PTO.
This will be an exciting month with LOTS of reading and great times. Enjoy the month and READ>

Important Changes to YouTube Starting Today
via The YouTube Team
Last September, we announced a series of changes that we’d be making to better protect kids and their privacy on YouTube, and to address the concerns raised to us by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Specifically, that all creators would be required to designate their content as made for kids or not made for kids in YouTube Studio, and that personal information from anyone watching a video designated as made for kids would be treated as coming from a child, regardless of the age of the user.
Starting today, we will no longer serve personalized ads or support features such as comments, Stories, live chat, notification bell, and others on videos designated made for kids.
We know these changes may have significant impact on creators making kids content, so we’re committed to helping them navigate this new landscape. We continue to engage on this issue, including by participating in the FTC's open comment period. We know many creators have provided valuable feedback as well.
If you haven’t already, please ensure you have set your channel (or individual videos) as made for kids or not, as this will ultimately determine how your content is treated on YouTube.
Creators know their content best, and should set the designation themselves. We also use machine learning to help us identify this content, and creators can update a designation made by our systems if they believe it is incorrect. We will only override a change if abuse or error is detected.
Thank You
