Mountain View Weekly Update
January 12
Announcements & Updates
- A reminder to parents that when a delayed opening schedule (10:30 a.m. start) is in place, there are no before-school activities. This includes extra help/targeted intervention, clubs, and morning STEM lab. Supervision starts at 10:15 a.m.
- On January 17 and 18, Mountain View staff will be administering both a Mathematics and ELA assessment to all students at Mountain View using the LinkIt! online testing platform. The district has been using LinkIt! since 2015; students have multiple years of experience with this platform. Each year, we administer three rounds in both ELA and Mathematics , with the data from each round being used in various ways, from providing information about student progress, to evaluating our programs. Students have traditionally taken the assessment in their regular Mathematics and ELA classes. To create a more formal testing atmosphere, we will have all the students remain in their homeroom to complete the Form B assessments, which is consistent with the administration of the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment in the spring. Note that a revised bell schedule will be in place, with all students taking the LinkIt! From 8:30 - 9:45, and the normal class schedule resuming thereafter.
- Reminders for 8th grade parents:
- The second payment for the Gettysburg/Hershey trip, in the amount of $157.50, is due on January 26. Please refer to Mrs. Toth's November 6 email for more information.
- Please carefully review the email from Ms. Walsh, sent this afternoon, regarding high school scheduling.
- With many students receiving new technology for the holidays, Administration would like to remind parents that per BOE policy 5516, cell phones and other electronic communication devices, which includes Smartwatches, must be deactivated and stored in lockers during the school day and during school activities before and after school. Consequences for violating this policy include parent pick-up of the device, detention, and for habitual offenses, in-school suspension. Further, the use/wearing of headphones, including AirPods, in the hallways is not permitted.
