STANDOUT COYOTES

CHS BASEBALL TAKES REGION

The Varsity Baseball team clinched the 4A Black Canyon Region Championship Tuesday April 16th with a 2-1 victory over the Apache Junction Prospectors. This guaranteed the boys a spot in post season play. Wednesday April 24th the Coyotes took on the Douglas Bulldogs and played a tough game. They got down early, but did not give up and made dramatic comeback but lost the battle ending their season. The boys finished the season 13-5.

COYOTE SOFTBALL advances in the STATE PLAYOFFS

The Varsity Softball team was named Section Champions and finished the regular season undefeated in the Black Canyon Region in Division 4A. The Coyotes played their first game of the post-season Wednesday April 24th and defeated the Arcadia Titans 11-1 in 5 innings. Senior Reagan Foster pitched phenomenally with 7 strike outs and only allowing 2 hits; she had great back up with error-less defense. Offense was lead by Shea Pearson who went 3 for 3 with a home run and Absidee Sanchez going 2-3 also with a home run. The girls will take on the Salpointe Catholic Lancers in the first round of bracket play Tuesday April 30th at 6:00 PM at Salpointe Catholic in Tucson.

TRACK named Pinal County Champions

Both the men's and women's track team finished out their regular season as runners-up at the Southeast Valley Championship on Friday the 19th and Pinal County Champions on Monday the 22nd. Both days were perfect with lots of personal bests and state qualifiers. Wish them luck as they head to the state championships on Friday and Saturday, May 3rd and 4th at Mesa Community College.

STATE CONCERT FESITVAL

The Orchestra students received an Excellent rating at State Concert Festival April 23rd! They represented Combs well and definitely earned their Chick-Fil-A!

COMBS HIGH SCHOOL FCCLA CHAPTER ADVISER WINS NATIONAL SPIRIT OF ADVISING AWARD

RESTON, Va. — Alice Goodrick, who leads the Combs High School FCCLA chapter in San Tan Valley, Arizona, was selected to receive the 2019 National Spirit of Advising Award by Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). This award is sponsored by Goodheart Willcox Publisher.

FCCLA recognizes chapter advisers who are constantly faithful, often quietly working behind the scenes to ensure the success of their students. These are the advisers whose patience, good humor, flexibility, and skill form the foundation of FCCLA at the local and state levels. State advisers nominated chapter advisers who have the following characteristics for this award: believes in the mission of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; supports and works with students to ensure student success; provides learning experiences; encourages positive character development; and dedicates time and energy to nurturing student leaders.

Mrs. Goodrick will receive the award during the 2019 FCCLA National Leadership Conference, to be held June 30-July 4 in Anaheim, CA.

COUNSELORS CORNER

We are excited for Award's Night coming on May 2, at 7:00pm in the Combs Performing Arts Center. Students who have earned their academic letter, scholarships, and our CTE completers will be honored that night...we look forward to our students and their families attending.


On May 4, the SAT will be administered on campus. If your student signed up for it, they need to be here on time, with all the necessary documents to sign in, and with an approved calculator.


Advanced Placement testing is scheduled for the Weeks of May 7, and May 14. Students can earn college credit with a good score, so be sure to study, get a full night's rest and eat a good breakfast.
