A Note from Mrs. Thexton
What a busy week this has been! 1C has worked and played hard this week and I know everyone is ready for the holiday! I know many of you will be traveling and I wish you safe travels. Enjoy your time away from school as a family and get lots of rest and relaxation over the 16 day break! We will begin again on Sunday, January 3. I will look forward to seeing everyone back on Sunday!
Here are this week's highlights!
Qatar Activity Day
Miss Lana and Mindy, along with Specialists and other non-classroom teachers spent the day with students on Tuesday for Qatar Activity Day. Students enjoyed learning Qatari games, making art, hearing stories, and learning about animals that live in Qatar. It was a fun day learning more about our host country in preparation of National Day!
Winter Rotations
As a teacher, I always look forward to our rotation days. We divide the children so they are mixed with other students from other classes. Our class mixed with A, B and D. Groups of students rotated through 3 classrooms for either a Christmas craft, stories, or gross motor activity. We also have a "story" rotation on Thursday morning, where students traveled to other 1st grade teachers to hear a favorite holiday story.
Christmas Party
1C celebrated Christmas on Wednesday with a turkey dinner and gingerbread men! Room Mom, Rouqueya, baked a delicious turkey breast, which I had the honor of carving. Students were served turkey, roasted potatoes and cranberry sauce, then for dessert, decorated a gingerbread man. We also had some delicious cupcakes! Yum! It was a lovely "Christmas dinner" setting and the students were so well behaved! Thank you to all parents who contributed to our Christmas party.
Mark Your Calendar
We would like to remind you that Tuesday, January 5th will be FULL school day with dismissal at 3 pm for students in KG – Grade 12. This is to make up for the lost day (instructional time) on November 25.
