Weekly Update

Dear LSUU Community,

I hope you are having a wonderful week. It's the middle of the summer so I will keep this brief. Today, I have the opportunity to sit down with our LSUU School Board as we reflect on our collaborative work together to support all students. Our ability to work together will be paramount as we define the direction of our school system and clarify benchmarks for a high performing district. In my short time in this position, it's clear there are many great things happening in our schools, providing us with a solid foundation for future growth and success.

Next week, I am looking forward to hosting parent focus groups. It's not too late to register. Also, if you haven't filled out the community survey, please take a second and share your input. I want to hear your thoughts, ideas, hopes, and dreams for our district moving forward.

Some families have been asking about health and safety guidelines going into the fall. Note below, we are expecting guidance from the state soon around this and will keep everyone posted once we have more information.

Enjoy your weekend and please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Ryan Heraty

CDC Guidance Recommendations

The State of Vermont is currently reviewing the recent recommendations put forward by the Center of Disease Control. We will be receiving updated guidance from the Department of Health and Agency of Education pertaining to our return in the fall and will keep everyone informed around what that will look like.

As a reminder, the State of Vermont did issue the Vermont Department of Health's recommendation that unvaccinated people age 2 and older (where developmentally appropriate) wear masks when inside throughout the summer. This includes all children under the age of 12.

REAL Schools

This week I had a chance to meet two great people, Saudia Lamont and Hannah Miller. Both Saudia and Hannah play an active role in the Racial Equity Alliance of Lamoille and will be working with our schools over the next year. You can read more about the work REAL is doing by visiting their website HERE. LSUU was recently awarded an Educational Systems grant from the State of Vermont which will allow us to do some great things to support all of our students.
