Thank you!!!

The students and I would like to thank you for coming to their Readers' Theater production today! They have been working hard and I think it really showed! We hope you enjoyed the performance!!

A Peek At Our Week...

~What a fun filled and busy week! We spent some time learning about and honoring veterans. We also read a few Thanksgiving books and took time to think about what we are thankful for. We spent some time learning about the first Thanksgiving and comparing Thanksgiving then to Thanksgiving now. Ask your child which utensil was not available at the first Thanksgiving or ask your child if an oven was used. If so, what type of oven was used? Your child should also be able to tell you how Squanto helped the Pilgrims!

~We were scientists this week and watched ice change its state of matter. We measured mass. We observed an oil and water mixture making predictions if the oil and water could be separated once mixed together. We even inflated a balloon using only Pop Rocks and Soda! FUN!

~In Math, we did some work with number lines and we began using Happy Numbers in the computer lab! Upon our return from our Thanksgiving holiday, we will begin Module 4...Addition and Subtraction to 200 with Word Problems to 100.

Fine Arts Presentation...Matisse!

We had a lovely Fine Arts Presentation all about Henri Matisse. The students were able to hear a little about his life and learn about the history of his art. Mr. Matisse listened to jazz music while creating some of his art. 2T was able to do the same! We listened to some jazz and the students used their scissors to create shapes and form their own masterpiece! Thank you to Mrs. Cassidy for leading our Fine Arts Presentation!

Wednesday morning we were able to attend an assembly! We were the audience for The Main Street Kid's Club, Math Musical. The Main Street Kids Club—or M.S.K.C.— is a cool kids' club where they love using math to figure out all kinds of things. On the wall of their clubhouse, it even says: "Math skills = Life skills!" Ask your child to tell you his/her favorite part.

Star of the Week...Olivia!

Olivia has two brothers, loves reading and homemade mac and cheese! She is a cheerleader, soccer player, and piano player. She hopes to someday travel to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower! She read us a heartwarming book entitled Daddies Do It Different.

Great job, Olivia!!

Student Principal...Luke!

If you were in the building on Monday, you may have seen a new principal at WES. Luke was able to be the student principal for the morning! It was a busy morning touring the building, unlocking doors, getting balls off the roof, sending emails, etc. He even left me a kind note in my mailbox. When he came to class to visit, our class wondered if he could give white slips. The answer was yes, however, Mr. Frieders did not find it necessary to hand out any white slips. Phew!

I look forward to speaking with everyone next week at conferences! Because conference time will only be 20 minutes, it is important the time is used effectively. To help me plan for our discussion, I'd love to have your input on this trimester. If you have any specific questions or concerns that you would like to discuss during our time together, please take a few minutes to email me this weekend.

I look forward to this time of sharing!

I wanted to take a minute to tell you how thankful I am. I am thankful that I get to be the teacher who spends Monday through Friday with this amazing group of students. Your children put a smile on my face each day. I am thankful that I get to learn, smile, laugh, and share with them each day. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
