Bell families,


I can't believe that the first day of school (Thursday, August 11th) is only three weeks away. Our hard working custodians have spent the summer thoroughly cleaning the building in preparation for the 2022-2023 school year. The entire Bell Intermediate Academy staff is looking forward to working with your students this year. Our goal is for the students of Bell to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn each and every day.

School Supply Lists

Self-Guided Building Tours

Students and their families can come to Bell Intermediate August 1st - August 5th (any time between 9 am to 2 pm) to take a self-guided building tour. This will allow students to get familiar with the layout of the building, find the locations of their classrooms, and practice opening their locker.


Students will get their schedule, locker number/combination, and an informational brochure.


The same information will be given to students during the Open House.

BIA Open House

We will have our Open House on Monday, August 8th from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. During the open house, students will get their schedule, locker number/combination, and be able to tour the building. Teachers will be in their rooms to meet families as well.


5th grade students and their families are encouraged to attend from 5:00 - 5:45 pm.

6th grade students and their families are encouraged to attend from 5:45 - 6:30 pm.

First Day of School

The first of day of school is Thursday, August 11th.


School Hours: 7:35 am to 2:35 pm

Doors open at 7:15

Picture Day

Students will get their school pictures taken on Monday, August 22nd. Information will be sent home with your child during the second week of school.

Bell Basics

Lockers

All students will be assigned a locker. Student lockers are located near their classrooms.


Communities

Students are placed on a community with 2 teachers in 5th grade and 3 teachers in 6th grade. The students rotate between these classrooms for their core classes (math, language arts, science, and social studies).


Block Schedule

5th grade blocks are 120 minutes for Math/Science and ELA/SS. 6th grade blocks are 80 minutes for Math, ELA, and Science/SS. Students will have two related arts classes each day.


Related Arts

Students will have two related arts classes each day. The classes will change each nine weeks grading period.


-5th graders will take Communications, Fine Arts, PE, Computer Science, Spanish, Music, STEM, and Art.


-6th graders in General Music will take Communications, Fine Arts, STEM, Computer Science, Spanish, PE, and Art.


-6th graders in Band, Orchestra, or Choir will take Computer Science, Spanish, and PE. They will also take Art, Communications, or Fine Arts.


Lunch/Recess

Students will have a 30 minute lunch period and a 15 minute recess.


Chromebooks

Students will be assigned a school Chromebook to use. When attending school in the building, students will take their device home each night. They are expected to bring the device to school fully charged each day.

Updated Snack Policy

Students are allowed to bring snacks to eat during the school day. We have updated our snack policy and expectations for the 2022-2023 school year. Please review the update at the following link: 2022-2023 Snack Policy

Information from Food Service

Breakfast: Free for all students


Lunch: $2.70 per student


Our Free & Reduced Application will be called Curricular Materials & Meal Assistance Application. For the 2022-2023 school year, breakfast will be free. However, this application is still needed for families to receive a possible discount on lunch and curricular fees. It is used by multiple agencies to award additional funding to the district and students.

Arrival and dismissal procedures for car riders and walkers

Students getting dropped off in the morning will enter door 2. They can begin entering the building at 7:15. Any students arriving after 7:35 will need to enter door 1.


Dismissal starts around 2:38. Students who are car riders will get picked up outside the main entrance (doors 1 and 2). Cars must turn right when exiting the school parking lot.
