Senior Salute

We had 179 AMCHS seniors receive some form of scholarship and financial aid totaling over $3.6 million! Way to go seniors. Good luck at the next level of your life.

Consol art club contributes to Keep Brazos Beautiful

The A&M Consolidated Art Club recently presented beautifully-painted cigarette receptacles to Keep Brazos Beautiful.


Because of their work, the AMCHS ART Club received the Keep Brazos Beautiful Miller Youth Service Award at a recent banquet. Award recipients were nominated by individuals in the community for their outstanding efforts to keep the Brazos Valley clean and green.


Approximately 25 AMCHS art students helped paint the receptacles, which will be placed in downtown Bryan to encourage smokers not to litter.

AMCHS Current Issues and Events Team wins UIL state title

A&M Consolidated High School students Alex Coopersmith, Shankar Srinivasan, Shilpa Saravanan, and Annie Zhang recently won the Texas UIL Current Issues and Events team competition state championship.

As part of the UIL Academic State Meet held in Austin, the current issues and events contest consists of 40 multiple-choice questions and an essay that challenges students to understand not just what is happening in the world today, but why and how it’s happening and what it means to us as citizens of the United States.




Four students also placed in individual events at the meet, including:

  • Coopersmith - 5th place - current issues and events

  • Shilpa Saravanan - 3rd place - editorial writing

  • Dana Branham - 4th place - headline writing

  • Karna Venkatraj - 4th place - informative speaking


The journalism students are coached by Mike Williams, while the speech students and current events students are coached by Roy Rodriquez.

AMCHS Students Compete and Win at UIL State!

On Tuesday and Wednesday, 12 AMCHS students competed at the UIL State Academic Competition in Austin.


Our Current Issues and Events Team are the 2013 UIL State Champions!

Team members include:

Alex Coopersmith, Shankar Srinivasan, Shilpa Saravanan, and Annie Zhang.

Alex also won 5th place as an individual!

The Current Issues students are coached by Roy Rodriguez.


Additionally, we had 3 other students place at the state competition.

Shilpa Saravanan won 3rd place in Editorial Writing.

Dana Branham won 4th place in Headline Writing.

The Journalism students are coached by Mike Williams.


Karna Venkatraj won 4th place in Informative Speaking.

The Speech team is coached by Roy Rodriguez.


Also competing at state were our Literary Criticism and Spelling Teams--including Michelle Liu, Lisa Liu, and Rachel Scott (Lit Crit) as well as Brooke Versaw, Samantha Wang, Shreya Shankar, and Shilpa Saravanan (Spelling and Vocabulary).

Kennedy, Mann selected to THSBCA all-star game

A&M Consolidated senior Ben Kennedy has been selected to play in the Texas High school Coaches Association All-Star Game on June 15, at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Kennedy will play for the north 4A-5A squad, which will be coached by AMCHS head coach Chase Mann.


The game starts at 7 p.m.
