Welcome to Our House "Where Character Matters"
Dear Botsford Families,
On Monday Botsford will welcome Maria Dismondy a children's author who started her career as a teacher. Maria Dismondy is an award-winning author, originally from Michigan who specializes in books about challenges children face such as bullying. A topic close to her heart, Maria's own childhood experience inspired her first book, Spaghetti in a Hotdog Bun. Five books later, Maria's dedication to empowering children with courage and confidence has reached new heights, touching the hearts and hands of children the world over.
Mrs. Dismondy was featured in the Oakland Press. Dismondy says one of the best parts of her job is her speaking engagements, especially at elementary schools. “I’m so happy with what I’m doing,” she says. “I still consider myself a teacher because a large part of what I do is presenting to elementary schools on the topics of reading and writing. I really feel I’m still teaching; it just looks different.”
Mrs. Dismondy will host 3 separate assemblies for our students. She will be reading The Jelly Donut Difference-Sharing Kindness with the World. This is a book about paying it forward.
I am sharing a video of a book Mrs. Dismondy has written. Please enjoy the read aloud.
Bus Loop and Parking Lot Safety
Cars should NEVER stop and wait in the bus loop. The loop is meant to be a safe drop off and pick up area but instead children are running through the loop to waiting vehicles and vehicles are not taking precautionary measures as they enter and exit the loop. We have had a parent volunteer to supervise our loop. Watch for orange cones. This means the loop is off limits to vehicles. Our volunteer has the authority to ask you to leave the loop.
Spring Portraits Fun Day
Lots of backgrounds to choose from and packages ranging in price from $7.00-$45.00.
