Evolución Bibliotecaria y GC
El tema candente en el II Encuentro de Exalumnos EGCTI- UPR
Evolución del Bibliotecario como Gerente del Conocimiento, con el Referente de la Práctica Basada en la Evidencia
Knowledge management is a business-focused approach to the collection of processes that govern the creation, dissemination, and utilisation of knowledge to fulfil organisational objectives thereby adding value to and increasing the productivity of the organisation. Knowledge management is a tool to facilitate the transfer of knowledge in its explicit and in its tacit forms. Knowledge requires facilitation in order for it to be transformed or used by organisations to create new meanings and innovation. The management of knowledge has therefore become a new business imperative. (Suzanne Zyngier, 2001) Recuperado de http://www.sims.monash.edu/staff/fb/tech-report-final-version-1.0.pdf
...[KM} is not a software product or a software category. [It] does not even start with technology. It starts with business objectives and processes and a recognition of the need to share information. Knowledge management is nothing more than managing information flow, getting the right information to the people who need it so that they can act quickly (William Henry "Bill" Gates, 1999).
En el 2011, Holly M. Riccio, Gerente de Bibliotecas en el Norte de California, en O'Melveny & Myers LLP en San Francisco, expresó:
Librarians are at a pivotal and key point in the development and future of the profession. Librarians have been doing knowledge management for hundreds of years, and the traditional library role has been one of identifying and organizing information, sharing information resources, and connecting people to the information they need.
