Past week...
We learned several strategies for adding fractions with unlike denominators this past week. Fourth graders learned how to multiply or divide by a power of one to create equivalent fractions and to compare fractions. Fifth graders reviewed these concepts. Students learned how to use fractions bars, number lines, rectangular models, and algorithm to add. We learned a lot this week, please make sure that your student reviews their math notes to solidify all of this new learning.
Upcoming Week...
Next week, we will subtract fractions with unlike denominators. We will use fractions bars, number lines, rectangular models and the algorithm to solve subtraction fractions. This concept may take some time to grasp, so please make sure that your student rereads math notes daily.
A new CML was sent home today. It is due next Friday, Oct. 21st.
Have a super weekend!
