PARENTS HELP THEIR CHILDREN SUCCEED ON PSSAs!
Parental support goes a long way in helping children show what they know in testing situations such as PSSAs. Here are few extra ideas that parents may consider:
Maintaining a pleasant home environment and avoiding unnecessary conflicts.
Making the morning(s) of the test pleasant to limit your childs stress.
Sending your child to school each day of the test with a water bottle. It has been proven that water aids brain activity.
Ensuring your child is present during testing (children generally perform better when taking tests in their groups rather than at a make-up time).
Wishing your child good luck each morning of the test and telling him/her that he/she is special and that you believe in him/her!
Reminding your child that the test is important and encouraging him/her to do his/her best.
Encouraging your child to stay focused on the test, even if other students finish early.
If your child is disappointed after taking the test, reassure him or her that there will be plenty of opportunities to improve and succeed.
ABSENCE NOTES REQUIRED
Reminder: Whenever your child is absent, upon their return, please send in an absence excuse note. You may also e-mail Mrs. Bilkins at sbilkins@cbsd.org.
