East Hampton Project Graduation--Spring Sprint (Virtually)
Every year the East Hampton Project Graduation committee hosts our "Spring Sprint" 5K race. We've had to get creative this year because of the unprecedented times we're in and decided to fund-raise for the East Hampton Food Bank.
100% of the registration fees will provide food and comfort to our community.
This years "Spring Sprint" will be a Virtual 5K.
A virtual race is run (or walked) at any location you choose. You can run on any day and at anytime during the race window. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, the trail, the treadmill, the gym, or the track. You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Even better…download a FREE “Its Your Race” app at registration to use on your race day. The App tracks your run via GPS, and stops automatically when your race distance is reached. Then, it will send your ”verified” time up to the race results posted on ItsYourRace.com
I know our students are expected to stay fit and exercise daily while distance learning is taking place. I wanted to give you the opportunity to get your students and their families involved.
The cost is $10.00 per person and students 14 yrs. and under are free. Attached is the flyer for the event.

News from the Nurses Office
Hello parents and guardians,
Just like you, our lives as health care workers have instantly been turned upside down by this highly infections virus, Covid-19. We are working hard behind the scenes to ensure a safe and measured return to school whenever that may be.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be our most valuable tool to move forward through this challenging time. Face masks, particularly, protect us from coming in contact with others’ germs, as well as, from spreading our own germs.
As most of you have probably seen, our governor signed an executive order encouraging all Connecticut residents to wear face coverings in public places. While studies are still being conducted around ways the virus can spread, one thing is certain; tiny droplets of contagion are passed through the air. Breathing, coughing and sneezing all produce these droplets. Wearing a face cover, or having someone potentially sick wear a face cover, prevents the spread of potentially contagious airborne particles.
Wearing face coverings in public may feel strange, as well as seeing others wearing face coverings, but they are highly effective and may be our new normal for a while. It is possible that face coverings could continue to be the new normal even when schools initially reopen.
Keeping our students and staff healthy is the priority of the healthcare staff in our schools. We will be following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and CT Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines when schools re-open to continue to do everything in our power to keep our school community as healthy as possible.
We miss all the students and hope this letter finds your families well. We hope to see everyone very soon.

EHHS LMC Dear Students, Normally, I’d be visiting your English classes right about now to do one final push and promote this year’s crop of Nutmeg nominees. There are some awesome stories in this year’s group about revenge, grief, friendship, and love. Unforgettable characters populate the pages...

Mrs. Tietjen wants to help you find books2020 Nutmeg Book Awards
Almost 50 kids have already cast votes by virtual ballot in this year's Nutmeg Book Award contest! If memory serves (my notes from 2019 are in my office at school), this is nearly as many as voted in person at school last year, and they have until the 29th to vote. I'm very happy and will send in our votes to be counted at the state level to determine the winner.
