Principal Note
Student Success Act
Districts are allowed four broad uses for the grant proposals:
- Increasing instructional time
- Addressing student health and safety needs
- Increasing adults/decreasing class size
- Expanding well-rounded learning opportunities.
Programs must also meet students’ behavioral and mental health needs and increase academic achievement as well as reduce disparities among student groups.
Phase I community engagement will seek input on what is working and what improvements are needed.
Your voice matters! We welcome your perspective and opinion. Take our BSD Needs Assessment Survey!

Do You Want To Volunteer This Year
We have had to turn parents away from Field Trips and class parties, because they have not done the background check. This is hard on both the student and parent, so please do not wait.

GeoQuest
Geo Quest is a specially designed geography-learning tool for Bethany students. Students learn the world's independent countries by continent.
In the past we have sent home paper copies of the maps for each student. This year we are asking that you print out the maps at home from the links below. Studying the maps each month occurs at home, and occasionally in the classroom. There are different levels, it is up to you and your child to determine how many levels to learn.
Each month on Quiz Day students will show a volunteer the countries that they learned.
Our First GeoQuest Day is September 25th. Please click on the links below for maps.Kindergarten - 3rd Grade Maps
4th & 5th Grade Maps
If you are unable to print the maps at home,
you can ask your teacher or the office for a printed copy.

BEAVERTON SCHOOL DISTRICT INFORMATION
Nutrition Services Information
Nutrition Services information is easier to access this year, and we have lots of cool information to share!
Remember that the 30-day Rollover Period for 2018-2019 meal benefits will end in early October. Be sure to apply TODAY so your students don’t have a lapse in benefits. Any families whose students go into “Paid” status will be responsible to pay for all meals charged in school cafeterias. Don’t let this happen to you!!
Click on the link below to go to SchoolCafe, and see all the things that you can do:
https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/departments/nutrition-services/meals/schoolcafe
All you need is your student’s ID number. If you don’t have that, you can call your school office
or the Meal Benefits line (503-356-3957). Here are some of your options in SchoolCafe:
- Create an account
- Apply for Meal Benefits
- View and print Meal Benefits letters
- See what items your student is getting in the cafeteria.
- Check your student’s account balance.
- View cafeteria menus
- Set up low balance alerts
- Set up auto-pay (when balance gets to an amount that YOU set, the account is replenished from your credit card)
SchoolCafe can provide amazing amounts of information!
If you do not have access to a computer, you can also apply for Meal Benefits on paper. Applications are available in every school office and cafeteria.
If you have questions or need help, please call Laurie Bishop at Meal Benefits, (503)356-3957 or email us at NS-MealBenefits@beaverton.k12.or.us.
