Chatham Chats

Dear Families,

Don't forget our Valentine's Dance tonight, 6-8. We look forward to seeing you there! Remember that parents should accompany their children and be a part of the festivities!

The Google Expeditions opportunity today resulted in lots of gasps and shrieks of excitement. The students were amazed by the sights they could see!

Our visitors enjoyed their time here at Harbins on February 9 as they got to experience a school day with us. They learned from your children and our teachers! What a great way to share the amazing work accomplished here.

It's GREAT to be a Harbins Tiger!

Just a few reminders regarding school procedures

Lunchroom: We are so happy you want to come eat with your children. Please help us with the following:

1. Remember students, not adults, have priority for seating. We have to make sure all students have a seat.

2. Depending on availability of seats, students may invite one friend to the visitor table.

3. Refrain from taking pictures of students.

Car Riders: Please help us maintain safety for your children.

1. Remember that you must remain in your car at dismissal. Students cannot be released to you directly from the gym.

2. Your car rider tag must be displayed the entire time you are in the line.

Clinic Corner

Parents if you have a child that has frequent accidents or a Kindergartner/first grader, please put extra clothes in your child's book bag. We are running very low on clothes in the clinic. So, if your child comes to the clinic with wet clothes, they may call you to bring them clothes, because I may not have anything to fit them in my closet. If your child borrows clinic clothes, please wash them and return them as soon as possible, so someone else can use them. ALL kindergartners and first graders should have a baggie of clothes in their book bag just in case!

Please make sure if you already have a change of clothes in your child's book bag, you change out the summer clothes and add winter clothes. Lots of friends have been coming in with shorts, and it has been way to cold for those lately!!

Thank you for your help with this!

School Closings Due to Weather Issues

When there are possibilities of school closings due to weather issues, be sure to go to Channel 2 - WSBTV, WSBTV.com or listen on the radio to 95.5 or AM 750 to see if Gwinnett County Schools are Closed or Delayed. These are the official sites for Gwinnett County. If Gwinnett County Schools are not listed then we will be in school.

Cyber Days

Keep looking here for updates on a potential Cyber Day for learning if we have a 4th snow day. Also, make sure you check our website frequently. If you have not signed up for Remind 101 from Mrs. Chatham, please do so. This is a great tool for communication in case we have inclement weather.

"Day of" Transportation Changes That Occur After Your Child Arrives at School

Below is information that is noted in the handbook but we wanted to bring to your attention as a reminder.

If a transportation change is needed after the school day has begun, you will need to contact the school by phone and send a signed note by fax, including a copy of your picture ID, stating the change in dismissal transportation for your child. Phone calls alone will not be accepted as verification of the needed change in transportation. Please do not send an email to your child’s teacher, as he or she may not have the chance to check messages prior to dismissal and we must have a note with a signature and a picture ID for changes in transportation. All “day of” transportation changes must be sent to the office no later than 2:00 that day. That is the only way we can ensure that the notice will be received and communicated to your student prior to dismissal.

Yearbooks

The on-line purchase of Yearbooks will end on February 8, 2016. After this time, all purchases will have to be made by cash or check only while supplies last.

Please take a few minutes to complete this very important survey. Your feedback will be a part of our schools CCRPI score, and it is important for us to hear you!

Safety Reminder

Please remember that all visitors to the school must enter through the front doors and sign in. Each visitor should wear the yellow name tag at all times while on school grounds.

Teachers and staff are engaged with children from 7:45 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. Please help us preserve that time. We ask that if you need to speak with a staff member, you set up a time with that person. This way, we can ensure we are devoting our attention to the children in the building and making sure we meet your needs.
