Career Speaker Series

On March 16th Otsego will be holding our first Career Speaker Series at the middle school for OVA students. Each student will be able to attend 2 sessions to listen to speakers from a variety of career paths. Please fill out the form below and let us know which areas you would be most interested in. We will do our best to match your selections.

The first session will start at 9:45 and students would need to be picked up after the second session at 11:00 on March 16.

This is a great opportunity to hear about various career pathways!

CKH: KINDNESS

Our district uses Capturing Kids' Hearts processes and curriculum to increase students' social-emotional awareness and skills. This month's focus is kindness.

What is Kindness?

Kindness is the ability and willingness to express care and compassion for others. Kindness is a choice to use our time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others and the world through genuine acts of love, compassion, generosity, and service.

Why focus on Kindness?

  • Kindness boosts positive emotions. Acts of kindness create neural pathways that enhance feelings of well-being and the natural flow of feel-good endorphins and neurotransmitters.
  • Kindness is self-replicating. When we perform an act of kindness, it is likely to encourage others to act in a similar way.
  • Kindness reduces stress and anxiety. Kindness promotes positive relationships with other people. Anything that helps you to build bonds with other people helps decrease anxiety.

In what ways can you practice kindness towards yourself and others?

OVA Classroom

OVA has a classroom now! We are still located inside the Otsego Middle School building, but our new room is located directly off of the cafeteria. There is a single door located just north of the custodian overhead doors on the west side of the building (facing the high school). Please use this door if you are coming to the classroom. If you do not have a scheduled time with a teacher or administrator, please use the OMS office door, as the OVA office is not currently staffed at all times.
