Brooker Creek Elementary
Hello Brooker Creek Families,
It has been an exciting week at school with all of the buzz of the holiday season in the air. While I am sure we are all looking forward to a change of pace over the next two weeks, I hope that you will encourage your child to spend some time with their 'brain-on' by completing their grade level holiday challenge over the break. All grade-level challenges are below. Please send the form back to school with your child when we return from break on Monday, January 4th.
Due to the delayed start of school this year, our calendar shifted a little. Please note the dates below.
January 4th- All students and staff return from winter break.
January 15th- End of 1st semester.
January 18th- No school, MLK Day.
January 19th- No school for students.
January 20th- 2nd semester begins.
Our school and district will be closed for the entire two-week break. If you need to report a positive COVID case to the school during our break, please email me directly at meklerj@pcsb.org. I will be monitoring my email periodically and will report any positive student or household COVID 19 cases to our district COVID team.
Brooker Creek is a very special place. I am honored to be part of this community. May your holidays sparkle with moments of love, laughter, and goodwill, and may your year ahead be filled with joy!
Happy Holidays,
Jenn Mekler, Principal

Second Semester Learning Option
We have posted our school-based process for families that wish to change their student’s learning option on our school website and below. Through the Florida Department of Education Order (2020-EO-07), our state has extended our district’s ability to continue our learning options through the end of the school year. Please remember that due to the delayed start of the school year, our second semester begins on Wednesday, January 20th. If you don’t wish to change anything for the second semester, you don’t need to do anything.
Parents may request a change for the second semester from/to face-to-face learning and from/to MyPCS Online. Parents should be aware that changing Learning Options may result in a change of teachers and/or teaching model. A teaching model change could be simultaneous instruction where the teacher is working with students face to face and virtually throughout the school day.
To submit your request:
- Complete the Request for Learning Option request by 11:59 PM on January 3rd in order for our team to makes necessary schedule changes for the beginning of the second semester which begins on January 20th.
If you have additional questions, please contact the school during regular business hours.
Cafe Updates
We are continuing to ask our BCE families to preorder meals when possible. When parents spend a few minutes pre-ordering their child’s lunch, it allows our cafe team to plan ahead. These forms allow us to break the meals out by the teacher and have them ready when the students come into the lunchroom and reduce the amount of time they have to spend in line. Pre-ordered meals also help us to reduce waste by only making food that is needed based on the orders.
