January 2016 Newsletter
A Message from the APHS Leadership Team:
As we welcome the start of 2016, we would like to extend to you our best wishes for an outstanding and productive new year! The first semester will come to a close at the end of the month, and as we move into the second half of the year, we hope that you will look forward to the challenges and successes of a new semester.
Winter Break is a time for reflection on the things that are most important in our lives. I hope everyone had time for some of this, especially our students. Family, school, and for students preparedness, are great things to focus on. January of 2016 is here and with it comes an opportunity for renewal. Renewal, depending on how you embrace it, brings energy and focus to our daily lives. Students must find this focus and drive because their future depends on it. From the staff at APHS, best wishes to all and good luck in 2016.

Molecular/Honors Biology Review Books
Dear Parents,
I would like to order review books for the Biology Living Environment exam in June for students, all Molecular/Honors students are required to take the Living Environment Exam. The cost of the book is $ 12.00
I will collect money up until the Feb break. Please have your son or daughter bring in exactly $12.00 cash or a check made out to APHS in an envelope with their name on it by Friday, Feb 12th.
The review book is titled The Living Environment, Bartsch/Colvard, Prentice Hall. It is NOT available in local bookstores, and must be ordered on-line. We will use the book for HW assignments throughout April, May, and June.
If your daughter or son is interested in taking the SAT Subject Test in Biology she or he will need to purchase a separate review book specific for the exam, and sign up on line to take the test which is offered the first Saturday in June. Information on this exam can be obtained at the Counseling Center.
If you have any questions related to these 2 tests, please contact me at boulayv@averillpark.k12.ny.us
