A Note From The Principal
Greetings Parents & Scholars,
This week! Thanks to the many scholars, parents and staff that showed flexible as we endured the winter storm this week. Thanks for staying focused and determined to learn. In the event you were unable to participate in eLearning activities due to power outages, technology or any other obstacle that made learning a challenge know that we are here for you. Please reach out to your teacher; he or she is ready and available to help.
How to Prepare. Since we are still experiencing winter storms and scholars may unexpectantly have to be placed in eLearning. We are asking each scholar to take their devices home daily. This will allow scholars the opportunity to log into Blackboard and participate in class. If you are in need of a Wi-Fi hotspot, please contact the front office.
Weather Alerts. In the event we are shifted to eLearning due to inclement weather we will notify you promptly. Stay tuned via your email, phone and your local news channels. If you have changed any of your information, contact us immediately so we can stay connected.
Campus Engagement & Kudos. Over the past two weeks we have engaged our scholars both on campus as well as during eLearning. We have spotlighted some of this is the pictures below. We will continue to showcase scholars in class and online. Keep up the good work teachers! Also, many thanks to the scholars that participated in our campus Black History Month celebration. We will post additional information, videos and pics in next week’s newsletter.
Reenrollment Time! If you have not confirmed your enrollment for next year, please do so now. We will send home a paper copy of the documents needed to assist. We also have a new system for enrollment and will be reaching out to you with a link and screenshots that will also assist you. For our scholars that are in 8th grade, please see the announcement below. The team at JRP is looking forward to working with you; together we will make this a seamless transition.
Scholars First,
Dr. Sue Starr

In Person Protocols
Please make sure your scholar is brought to school and picked up on time. As a reminder, we begin arrivals at 7:45. Your scholar is considered tardy at 8:15. Dismissal begins at 3:00 and ends promptly at 3:30. Frequent tardiness or late pick ups may result in your scholar being shifted to our remote learning option.
Lastly, we wanted to provide a reminder on a few of our safety protocols. Please review the following letter to reaffirm your understanding of these expectations. Thank you for ensuring these protocols are followed. We need your support to ensure we are able to continue in person learning.

STEM Update
As we take on the new year, we will continue to learn how to program. Programming on the computer is a segue to the new chapter in our STEM class. We want to engage scholars with hands-on activities to keep them interested. Scholars need learning that keeps their minds wondering and with hands-on activities we believe that we can achieve the level of enthusiasm and engagement that we are looking for.
Having STEM gives our scholars the ability to learn about different professions that they might not be exposed to. As the school year continues, we will indulge in topics and terminology that will increase their mindset to change the world.
