Thaleisha Griffin

MA in Education (Early Childhood)

A little bit about me...

Thaleisha is a class of 1999 high school graduate from Berkeley High School located in the small town of Moncks Corner, SC. After high school, she attended the small private college Spartanburg Methodist. Due to unforeseen hardships, Thaleisha was unable to continue her education and instead settled for employment.

In 2003 she connected with an old high school friend Bryan Griffin, they began dating, and eight months later the two were engaged. Her fiancée Bryan was an active duty Marine stationed in Perris Island, SC. The two were married on April 2, 2005. Thaleisha and Bryan relocated to Hawaii in 2007 where she enrolled at Hawaii Pacific University. Thaleisha did well academically; however, she believed she was not truly following her dreams. Thaleisha always had a passion for young children. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be in the early childhood field. Therefore, her attempt to study radiology at Hawaii Pacific failed. In 2010 Thaleisha and Bryan were relocated to Southern California when she decided to pursue her dreams in the early childhood field. In November of 2010, she enrolled in school at Kaplan University and took a job as an infant lead teacher at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps child development center. Thaleisha went on to earn both her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in early childhood. Thaleisha graduated Suma Cum Laude in the top 15 percent of her classes.

In March of 2015, she enrolled in Ashford University’s master’s of education program with a specialization in early childhood. Thaleisha will be graduating in the fall of 2016. She continues to work hard in school as she has part time employment, battles the auto immune disease Lupus, and maintains her 4.0 GPA. Thaleisha is dedicated and determined accomplish her dreams and goals. Her ultimate goal is to be the founder of her own high-quality early childhood education and care program. She is making plans and taking steps to accomplish her academic and personal goals.

When Thaleisha is not working or studying, she enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures, eating, shopping, and spending quality time with family and friends. However, her favorite pastime is EATING!
