Reopening Update

As mentioned in last evening's Family Update sent by Dr. Olesniewicz, we are working on adapting our Phase 2 model. We are working on a plan to allow Blended Program students to remain in a distance format rather than moving to in-person learning. On Monday of this coming week, the Phase 2 Task Force will meet to consider ideas families supplied in the recent district survey and to take in input from staff on this subject. A virtual community meeting on the re-opening will take place from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, April 1, 2021. A link to this meeting will be shared on the CUSD website soon.

We recently mailed families a packet with information about Sycamore's process for dropping-off and picking-up students during in-person learning. Though there may be changes in the timing of our schedules, we expect our processes to remain the same. Please read that mailing carefully as you begin to plan for transporting your child to and from school. For more information on our Phase 2 plans, review our school's Phase 2 Hybrid Handbook on our school's website or listen to a recording of the parent information night held on March 20.

I want to encourage you to talk with your children about your family's plans for the reopening. Students and teachers will continue to discuss plans in class this week. As you have questions about the plan, please contact us. Stay tuned to emails and newsletters. I'll be sharing more information as we have it.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

BLAST-After School Program

Over the coming days, enrolled families will learn more about their student's BLAST (after school) program. Spring enrollment in the BLAST program will be limited due to requirements for social distancing, so BLAST staffing will also be limited. Suzan Ahmed, our school's BLAST supervisor will be on campus daily, but Ce Ce Hinshaw, a beloved Sycamore BLAST team member, will not be on our campus this spring. She will be needed on another campus. Here's a message from Ce Ce:

"I wish you all the very best of luck as we all face this new challenge in our lives serving our families, and I will see you in September !!

Love, Cecile "Ce Ce" Hinshaw👍❤️"

It's time to order your yearbook!

Indoor Science School

This year's SIXTH GRADE INDOOR SCIENCE SCHOOL was such fun! Thanks to the amazing planning of teachers, the instruction provided by Lisa Schuster and Lydia Hernandez, and the spirited support of our entire upper grade team, the week was memorable. Our thanks to family members who made sure their students received their swag bags, pizza and treats and to our Governance Council donors who contributed to the week's costs.

Family Fitness Night

We've been invited to join the families of Vista Del Valle for a Family Fitness Night. The virtual meeting will be led by our lead Elementary Physical Education Teacher, Alejandro Ramos. Mr. Ramos will be sharing fun ways for families to get moving together. Use this Zoom link or Meeting ID: 910 524 8544 and Passcode: 7sSYT5. See the flyer (picture) for details.

Claremont Educational Foundation Toyota Raffle

Claremont Educational Foundation has long been a supporter of Claremont's students. As a part of their fundraising and partnership with schools, CEF holds an annual Toyota car raffle. Claremont Toyota has donated a brand new 2021 Toyota Rav 4 to this year's raffle, and in June, one person will be the lucky winner. Tickets sell for $20. Seven dollars of each ticket comes back to our school, and the balance of the ticket price is profit for CEF. In turn, CEF donates those funds back to CUSD to support the arts and technology. We will sell tickets in the school office, if you call ahead. We encourage you to participate!
