This Week at MHS
Here's what is happening the week of April 5th - 9th!
Dear MHS Parents and Students,
We hope that everyone had a lovely four day weekend! What a great opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and outdoors!
Rising Seniors - SAVE THE DATE - Senior Pictures will be held in the MHS Library May 26th and 27th. More information will be coming to you from McEachern Photography, the new photo company for MHS.
TSSAA has revised some of the COVID policies and temperatures will no longer be taken at sporting events. Masks are still required for entry and to be worn if you are not able to social distance from individuals outside your family circle. Thank you for helping us to meet the TSSAA expectations.
We remind everyone that all students are expected to wear a face covering when social distancing cannot occur. We appreciate your support in caring for the health and well being of our school community.

Course request verifications for the 2021-22 school year will be emailed to parents of rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students by April 6, 2021. Students can make necessary adjustments to their elective requests via the process referenced in the email. All changes requests are due by April 12, 2021.
MHS school counselors have created a virtual appointment request for our students. If your child would like to meet with his/her school counselor, please direct them to this link https://mhs.maryville-schools.org/parents-students/guidance or encourage them to drop by guidance in person. The best part of our day is meeting with students and we can't wait to become better acquainted with your son or daughter.
MHS Guidance will be hosting a field trip to both the Harding Valley and Blount County campuses of Pellissippi State Community College on Wednesday, April 7th. Juniors and Seniors who are interested in attending Pellissippi after high school can sign up for this opportunity. There is NO COST to attend, and lunch will be provided. Students will be responsible for any makeup work. If your child is interested in attending, please encourage them to sign up in the guidance office and to submit the required parent permission form. We are limited to 40 students, so this trip is first come, first served.
The THEC/TSAC outreach announces the launch of two webinars beginning Monday, April 5 for student and parents.
After the FAFSA: Finalizing your Financial Aid is a webinar for high school senior families presented every Monday. This webinar focuses on the review of financial aid offers; what to do if selected for FAFSA verification; and HOPE Scholarship and other state aid eligibility.
Financial Aid 101 is a webinar for high school juniors/underclassmen families presented every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This webinar will walk families through the college/scholarship/financial aid process, so they’ll be ready for the senior year of high school.
We are excited to begin PRESS ON small groups with our students in the month of April! It's a crazy world out there with Covid complications, college and career decisions, school and athletic pressures, relationships, jobs, homework and more. The MHS Counseling Team wants to help students "PRESS ON" through what can be a stressful and overwhelming time in life. We will be offering the opportunity for students to sign up for 4-week, counselor led small groups addressing common needs like stress management, future planning, anxiety, and other regularly requested supports. PRESS ON groups will meet in the month of April with the opportunity to participate before school from 7:45-8:15 or after school from 3:30-4:00 for a total of four weekly sessions. We encourage you to discuss this opportunity with your child if you feel this group may be a good fit for his/her needs. Students can access more information and register for the group via the MHS School Counseling Canvas page.
Upcoming scholarships of interest:
Carr/Flowers/Gallagher Scholarship (4/16/21), Foothills Striders Scholarship Program (4/21/21). For additional details and other scholarship information, consult the MHS School Counseling Canvas page.
