2 Word Character Development
One of the hardest things we can do as parents is to watch our kids go through hard times. To watch them struggle with setbacks. Whether it’s an injury or a test grade or a loss, our kids are going to face struggles.
Once we understand how to live with a “So what?” mindset, we can help move our
kids through their setbacks. We’re not telling them that what they’re going through
isn’t hard, or doesn’t hurt. Like that old saying goes, “puppy love still feels like love
to a puppy.” It just means that we know they’ll get through it, and we’re there to walk
through it with them.
As parents, our job is to provide perspective. The best way to protect our kids is not
to shield them, but to teach them how to navigate rough waters. It’s a fine balance
between, “I want to protect you and be here for you,” and “I want to provide you with
a new perspective.” They’re not the first, nor will they be the last, to deal with what
they’re dealing with. It’s likely not as bad our kids think it is.
There will be another test for them to take. The injury will ultimately heal. There will be other girlfriends or boyfriends. We’re not making light of their issues, but we’re helping them see
the bigger picture. That life is about more than their circumstances.
Data Verification Completed?
Letters were sent home last week with every student in NISD informing them about the new data verification process for returning students. This process will eliminate much of the 1st day of school paperwork. (Yeah!) Please ask your child for the letter and begin the process as soon as possible. Letters were sent out through 5th period.
Each letter contains a unique snapcode for each NISD student. If you have multiple students, you will need each child's letter with their personal code in order to complete the process.
If for some reason your child did not receive a letter, please call the front office at 210-397-8400. If you need assistance completing the process, let us know.
Thank you for completing this important task.
Due date for completion: March 29, 2019.
